The final round of the NRL regular season begins on Thursday night with the Broncos hosting the Storm. A week out from the Finals would usually indicate a high intensity but with minimal impact to the following week's match, this game may be void of a high intensity. Nevertheless, it will mean something somewhere, and Before You Bet is here to take a comprehensive look at this match, as well as all games across the weekend, for Round 27 of the 2025 NRL season.

Broncos vs Storm Prediction & Tips: 2025 NRL Round 27
Good but they must be better
It was a clinical display from the Broncos in a high scoring road victory over the Cowboys. Despite a few scares over 80 minutes, they prevailed 38-30 but did everything possible to hurt their chances. They only had a 46% share of possession and completed at just 69%; this nullified their 10.7m per carry, 578PCM’s and 11 line breaks. If they are to be successful in coming weeks, they must rely on their defence. Conceding 30 points and missing 30 tackles will be punished by the leading teams in the competition.
A loss that won’t worry them
Despite being defeated at home by a team lower them on the ladder, in a milestone match for their coach, the 40-10 upset loss to the Roosters will matter little to the Storm moving forward. If anything, the insipid display will motivate them in coming weeks. Missing their share of players, they were outclassed but did little to help their cause as they had just 42% possession, a 74% completion rate and made just 7.4m per carry (lowest of the season). Their defensive record was worse, conceding 8 line breaks and missing 40 tackles. Hopefully, they can quickly move past that and improve with the Finals ahead.
Stats that matter
- The Storm have won 17 of the past 18 against the Broncos, including their Round 23 match 20-2.
- These two teams have a similar attack in 2025 (25ppg) but are separated defensively. The Broncos allow 21ppg whereas the Storm are far strong, allowing just 18ppg.
- Despite having a strong home record (59%), the Storm have a 74% win record here and will not be worried about the trip north.
Bouncing back with everything to play for
The Storm will want to return to winning form following their poor performance last week and this game, just before the Finals, will be the perfect catalyst for improvement. When they were expected to rest some players, they have named a relatively strong side and so too have the Broncos. They are still without key players in their spine, but the players listed will be sure to do a job for them, as they have done in previous weeks.
Given the form of each team this year, it would be surprising to see the Broncos cause an upset. While they have the possibility to disrupt their opponent’s momentum in the middle, their ability to build pressure is still questionable. Against a team like the Storm, every detail counts and the Broncos are yet to prove themselves capable of this. It should be a tight contest though, with a Finals-like intensity sure to be present throughout this match.

Leg 1 = Total points under 49.5 – the average total in their past 5 matches is 46.4 points, with two games of 26 and 24 reducing the total. If their Round 23 matches is any indication, this will be another low scoring contest.
Leg 2 = Warbrick to score – playing against the Broncos is something he enjoys. He has scored 6 tries in the past 4 matches against them, including a hattrick in their most recent match. As he returns to regular playing, watch for Warbrick to make his mark on this contest.
Leg 3 = Coates to score – he loves playing the Broncos also, with 4 tries from his past 3 matches including a double last time he took the field against them. With both wingers a dangerous threat, their opponents may be caught short trying to defend them.
