A disappointing week in our AFL spread betting tips last week saw us hit on just 1 of 3 tips. However, the great thing about spread betting is that you can lose by a small amount and win by a lot. The one bet we won ended up winning by 117 units while the 3 we lost on lost by a combined total of 33 units so it was still potentially a profitable week. We’ll be looking for more of the same as we present our AFL spread betting tips for Round 16 kicking off Friday night with the Crows vs Bulldogs.
If you’re still unsure of how spread betting works, you can check out our complete guide to spread betting before you create your own Pointsbet account and start winning cash - make sure you understand spread betting 100% before you start though, because things can get very swingy. AFL Round 16 Spread Betting Tips
Adelaide kick off the weekend’s action on Friday night as they take on the Western Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Crows goal sneak Eddie Betts has scored a goal within the first 5 of the match in the last four games he has played and with a goal accelerator of just 36, we think he can achieve the over here, especially with the way the Dogs have been allowing teams to get out to fast starts lately.
The first goal accelerator is an interesting concept at Pointsbet. Players will receive points if they kick a goal inside the first 5 of the match. 150pts are awarded for scoring the 1st goal of the match, 75pts for scoring the 2nd goal, 50pts for the 3rd goal, 25pts for the 4th goal, 10pts for the 5th goal, 0 pts if the player doesn't score or scores after 5 goals have already been scored. If player score multiple goals, the points will accumulate.
Josh Kelly and the Giants come up against the Hawks this weekend in Launceston which has proven to be a stat hoarders ground if there ever was one in the AFL. The game between the Hawks and Saints in Tassy earlier in the season saw 13 players crack the ton in AFL fantasy points while the Hawks have consistently been the easiest team to score on throughout the season so far. Josh Kelly averages 112 on the season and his spread for this game is set at a modest 102-108. We think he hits the over due to the factors in his favour.
A market that we’ve been utilising the last few weeks is the time of first score. We think on most occasions the spreads for the favourites are way too high, just like it is with the time of the first Sydney score set at 228 seconds against the Suns. The Swans have beaten that easily in 9 of their last 10 games and we think they should again here.
Both Collingwood and Essendon suffered heartbreaking losses on the weekend that have both of their seasons on the brink. The Dons arguably have more to play for here and have shown their ability to beat Collingwood when they won the ANZAC Day clash earlier in the season. We think they should be too good for a battered Collingwood line up here with the line set at just 3 points.
