PGA Tour: BMW Championship Betting Tips
Castle Pines Golf Club, Thursday 22nd – Sunday 25th August
In a star studded field, Japanese veteran Hideki Matsuyama blew away the competition in the first playoff event in Tennessee last week, getting out to a six shot lead at one point before eventually winning the tournament by two strokes. With the win, Matsuyama jumps up into 3rd place in the FedEx Cup standings, trailing only Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele.
70 competed in the St. Jude Championship on the weekend, but at the conclusion of the event, just 50 will move on to the Colorado.
The Field
Just three players performed well enough at the St. Jude Championship to come from outside the top 50 and force their way into the field for the BMW. Nick Dunlap, Eric Cole and most notably, Viktor Hovland, all finished in the top 18 in Tennessee to punch their ticket in.
The rest of the field will be made up of the top performing golfers throughout the year, headlined by the likes of Scheffler, Schauffele, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg and Patrick Cantlay.
The Course
Nestled within a pine forest in the picturesque foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Castle Pines Golf Club is located in Castle Rock, Colorado, just 27 miles south of Denver. This Jack Nicklaus-designed course will be the longest in PGA Tour history, measuring 8,130 yards on the official scorecard.
The par 72 layout boasts twisting hole shapes, dramatic elevation changes, elevated multi-tiered greens, numerous water hazards, and the unique advantage of Rocky Mountain air, which allows golf balls to travel approximately 10% further than at sea level. The club consistently ranks among the top 50 greatest courses in America.
Betting Tips
Tony Finau ($28/Top 10 $2.62)
Love the look of Finau this week. Grew up playing in these high-altitude conditions and hits the ball as far as anyone. He has put together 12 straight rounds of under par in non-major events coming into this week and can climb into the coveted top 10 with a strong performance here.
Collin Morikawa ($16/Top 10 $1.95)
Comes into the tournament in as good of form as anyone not named Scottie or Xander and should have a little bit of an inbuilt advantage here with his long iron play. T22 in Memphis and hasn’t missed a cut since the Arnold Palmer back in March (15 straight events).
