The last round of the 2017-18 Hyundai A-League season is finally upon us and there are still plenty of storylines heading into the final weekend of play. We take a look at the key matchups of Week 27 and give our betting tips below.
A-League Week 27 Betting Tips
Sydney FC vs Melbourne Victory (Friday 7.50pm AEST)
After bit of a shaky patch that included A-League and AFC Champions League losses, Sydney have bounced back and have now won their last five games in all competitions. They sit well clear on top of the A-League table with one game to play and although they cant match their record tally of 66 points from last season, a win against Melbourne on Friday would bring them within just two points of the feat.
Melbourne Victory currently sit fourth on the A-League table but can jump into third place with a win and a Melbourne City loss. They have the luxury of being clear enough of fifth place to have nothing to lose here so should be playing pretty freely up in Sydney.
Both teams have the week off in their AFC Champions League fixtures, so will come into this one fresher than they have been after some busy weeks. Sydney have won the last six matches between the two clubs including the 4-2 penalty win in last year’s Grand Final. We think their streak continues here and they capture a close home win.

Perth Glory vs Brisbane Roar (Saturday 10pm AEST)
The first of two massive games here as four three teams fight it out for the last two spots in the A-League finals. Perth currently sit in 8th place but are just 1 point behind WSW in 6th. In fact, both teams currently sit in the same position, so given Adelaide hold on for at least a draw in their match against WSW, the winner of this match will advance to the finals.
Brisbane are finding form at the right time of year. Although they lost last weekend, they have won 6 of their last 10 games. They have the tough task of travelling West for this game, where Perth are one of the best home teams in the league with 7 wins from 12 games.
Really tough match to call here. It’s absolutely do or die for both teams here as they won’t know the result of the Adelaide game until the day after. Perth are undefeated in their last six games at home against Brisbane, hard to bet against them out West.
TIP: Perth to win - $2 at Ladbrokes
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Adelaide United (Sunday 5pm AEST)
Adelaide United have already secured their place in the top six, but Western Sydney will need a win to book their place, unless the Perth vs Brisbane game ends in a draw, in which case WSW will only need a draw. They’ll back themselves at home to get a win though, where they have been good this season with a 5-4-3 record.
WSW have lost their fewest games at home outside of Sydney FC, and had a great home win against Brisbane last weekend. Not sure how invested Adelaide will be here. They are in a comfortable position of not being able to go up or down so could opt to rest some players ahead of the finals campaign.
Western Sydney Wanderers have lost just one of their last nine home games against Adleiade, and while many of those nine games have ended in a draw, they should be more aggressive here. Cant really get a gauge on this match until the Perth vs Brisbane game plays out on Saturday night but we think Western Sydney should have more invested and with the home field advantage we like them to win.
