2024 AFL Round 12 Preview & Betting Tips
West Coast vs St Kilda

Back on their home deck where they’ve shown some genuine force in 2024, West Coast will be eyeing off their fourth win of the season on Saturday afternoon. Seldom did they achieve success in recent campaigns, but the newborn Eagles, led by Harley Reid, have won three of their past four at Optus Stadium.
However, the young Eagles will be licking their wounds after a horror showing on the road against a far more desperate Crows outfit last weekend. They were obliterated in all facets of the game from the outset and eventually went down by 99 points (38-137).
The Eagles’ coaching staff have made five changes from their recent drubbing, three of them being forced through either injury or illness. Headlining the ins is ruck recruit Matt Flynn who’s overcome a freak injury issue, while Tim Kelly is the key out. The addition of Flynn allows Bailey Williams to play as a key forward – a position he spent training for in the pre-season.
Elsewhere, St Kilda have been nothing short of dismal so far in their 2024 campaign. They showed some early flashes of excitement with two wins from their first four games, but have gone onto lose six of their past eight, placing them in 15th spot on the ladder. Most recently the Saints were outworked, outgunned, and outcoached by the Demons in Round 11, ultimately losing by 38 points at the MCG.
Kicking a competitive score continues to plague the Saints under coach Ross Lyon, and they now enter Round 12 with scores of 53, 52, and 62 in their past three. The Saints have only reached the 100- point mark once this campaign and that came in Round 8 against North Melbourne – a team that are yet to keep a side under the ton.
The Saints coaching staff have made three changes at selection – two that were forced through injury. Tim Membrey kicked six goals in the twos last weekend and gets another chance at the top level, while the injury-plagued Hunter Clark finally gets a recall.
Match Prediction: The Eagles have been horrible over the past few years, so it’s no surprise to see the Saints have won their past two encounters; however, despite how bad the Eagles were, they only won those two meetings by a combined 36 points.
The Eagles have shown some great improvement this season, particularly at home where they’ve won three of their last four, including a win over the talented Demons. And at the slight underdog odds, they seem to be the best bet in a tricky fixture.
