Race 4: Ag Rigging Plate Class 6 1300m at 2.53pm AEST
(3) REJOICED ($15 / $4.20) – best roughie of the day! For what ever reason I think the market has missed this guy early doors and he’s over the odds. He puts himself on speed (likely no disadvantage early in the day) and has a great record at the track. He’s been firm in the market each of his last 5 starts (SP’d $4 or better) and has run well in all of them except the failure two back when he over raced badly and faded noticeably at the end of a mile. Had a month freshen up leading into his LS victory when he did quite a lot of work early to lead from gate 10 before giving a nice kick to hold them all off whilst lumping 61.5kgs. Gets some weight relief today and senior rider up. He’ll give us a sight (0.5 units win / 1 unit place)
(6) ARNAQUEUR ($2.70) – 5YO who won very nicely first up last start and looks good enough to go on with it. Scores Ben THOMPSON in the saddle again and is well supported here. Goes well.

Race 6: Magic Millions Garden City Guineas 1625m at 4.12pm AEST
(6) PLANNED ENCOUNTER ($4.80) – looks a nice filly that I’m happy to spec in an open race. Won nicely on debut over 1350m when she took forever to warm up before staying at 1350m two-back when she was run off her legs early then worked through the line strongly (IN EVIDENCE, ACRES AWAY both look handy types from that race). Got out to 1500m LS and was building nicely behind ADELAD and CAPITAL CEE (both here) when the run closed on her and she lost all momentum (should’ve finished closer / picked herself up nicely). Finally gets to the mile today which looks ideal to my eye and meets ADELAD and CAPITAL CEE better at the weights (2.5kgs and 5.5kgs respectively). Query on where she’ll get to in the run from gate 1, but if she can sit a little closer to the speed and get the gaps on turning for home she’ll be launching late! (1 unit win)

Race 7: Toowoomba Cup 2000m at 4.48pm AEST
(9) NIKAU SPUR ($4.40) – he’s going super! He’s won 4 of his last 5 and looks well placed again today. Latest he sat behind the speed in a small field and popped out on the corner before destroying his rivals winning by 2L running away from them (beat GALIFIANAKIS who since ran OK and LINTHORPE LAD who he meets better at the weights for having done so). The start before he beat home WAIRERE FALLS who we were keen on last week but he was forced 3WNC the trip and battled on nicely (forgive job). He gets in well at the weights (NAMAZU gives him 6.5kgs), he’s in terrific form, draws a nice gate to sit handy to the speed, and he’s placed his only go this track. Keen he runs well again (1.5 units win)
(1) NAMAZU ($6 / $2.25) – 6YO who was extremely good in the Townsville cup where he won by 6L carrying top weight. Failed to back that up as odds on favourite in the Cairns Cup, but was a little unlucky. Terrific record over this trip and goes well at an Each Way price here.
