It’s one of the biggest race days of the year with the Golden Slipper taking centre stage at Rosehill. Flemington will play host to a nine race card of its own, highlighted by the All Star Mile.
Billy Bestford has done the form throughout the day and has narrowed down his racing best bets on what looks a huge day of racing around the country.
Today's Racing Tips: Saturday March 19th
Flemington R2
(1) Express Pass was an enormous first up run, flying home behind Malkovich and Brooklyn Hustle. As soon as she crossed the line there I was keen to follow wherever she went text. She'll improve plenty off that run, has a good 2nd up record and is proven up the straight.
Flemington R5
Plenty to like about the last start win of (8) Vasmee who bolted in by the tune of 6.5L. There were post race issues two back which was his only flop this prep. He's won his other three in good fashion so is clearly going well. He's an exciting horse for the stable, will put himself up on speed and will enjoy getting up to 1600m now.
Rosehill R6
Have (1) Anamoe on top here and I think he looks a cracking bet today. Hasn’t had everything go right for him this prep but he has run extremely well all things considering. Have no doubt that he is the best horse here over 2000m and that is the key for him today. A drying track won’t do his chances any harm either while he draws perfectly for McDonald to sit back and track something into the race. He will explode late.
Flemington R6
Having two bets in the feature race at Flemington:
(2) Zaaki gets a big weight swing on the horse that beat him last start in Inspirational Girl and looks to have come back in terrific order. He's a genuine star and is probably the best horse in this field. If he's fine staying at 1600m then I don't think they'll beat him. Disappointed (1) I'm Thunderstruck has drawn the inside gate otherwise I'd be super keen on him! Will still have something on because he's a much better horse on the big Flemington track and has been set for this race a long way out. 3rd up he is ready to let rip - any luck and I think he goes very close.

(2) Mo’unga is ready to win following a really nice fresh run in the Futurity where he ran on strongly against the pattern of the day. Up to the mile and back to his favourite track are all big ticks and he draw beautifully for a cosy run throughout. If the gaps come at the right time and he has space to wind up then I think he’ll be too strong for them.
