Sunshine Coast Racing Tips: Saturday, July 5th 2025
Race 6: Double R Group Winx Guineas – Group 3 – 1600m - 3:23pm (AEST)
(2) Mister Bianco $3.40: 3YO gelding who has been racing in career best from notching up three wins on the trot. He has a terrific wet track record and Ryan Maloney has a nice record when on top. The step up to the mile and the sticky gate look to be the only concerns here. Clearly a talented type and will be up to this in his eyeballs. Watch the market.
(3) Apuntar $9.50/$2.80: 3YO gelding who is a genuine horse and continues to race honestly. He has a nice wet track record and is placed on all three occasions when running over 1600m. Rock hard fit and has had 3 weeks off since his last start, so should be ready to fire here. Each way play.
(13) Millie De Lune $4.60: 3YO Filly who is already $5.50 into $4.60 in the early market and will have plenty of admieres from recent outings. Boasts a wet track record and was slick last start over 1800m with the fastest last 600m sectionals. She drops back in distance again, but she has won over 1500m previously, so don’t expect it to be too much of an issues. The market suggests she is going well enough to be a major player here. Chance.
(3) Apuntar E/W
$9.50/$2.80 (1U/2U)
Race 7: Tab Glasshouse - Listed - 1400m – 4:02pm (AEST)
(3) The Inflictor $5.00/$2.15: he’s got to be the best each way bet of the day! He’s had a cracking preparation this time in and looks well placed to run well again here. He was a dominant winner three back when he led them up over 1350m at Doomben with 61.5kgs on his back before giving a strong kick to fend them all off (beat home SHA OF GOMER easily who subsequently ran second to OUGHTON which ties in / THE DROVER since won / second fastest 4-200m split of the race pinched it for him). They went to the G1 Stradbroke Hcp over 1400m two back and found that to be a bridge too far, albeit he ran well (beat home FAR TOO EASY that day and meets him 2kgs better having done so). He stepped out to the mile LS and was heavily backed ($4.6>$3.40) when he sat outside the leader the entirety before giving a good kick to hold them all off (good gaps behind / race rated well as they went 7.3L above average overall). He’s on the quick back up today, so he must’ve come through that run well. This race looks devoid of a lot of speed on paper, so I think they’ll roll forward from the wide gate and give them something to catch. He’s never missed the placings from 5 starts at this track, he likes the sting out of the ground, and Jag Guthman-Chester is riding well. He’s rock hard fit, so I think he’ll be hard to get past.
(4) Warnie $2.90: we were with him last start when he was backed off the map (SP’d $2.45) but failed to fire after having the run of the race. His two starts prior were enormous over 1200m running some good time. If he gets some luck from the gate / those off speed can run on, then he’s a clear winning hope. Expecting much better.
(9) Gumdrops $18.00/$4.80: best roughie in the race. She ran well behind METALART and HE’S HEAVEN (both since won) first up when she came from last on the corner over 1100m to get within 2L of the winner (fastest L200m split of the race). She went to 1300m last start and was never on the track racing 3 wide no cover throughout, yet she kept coming down the straight to be within 3L of FLOOZIE who ran well in the G1 Tatts Tiara last week (TASHI and ABOUNDING ran the quinella there / fourth fastest L200m split of the race). She draws a nice gate and will improve third up. Danger.
(3) The Inflictor E/W
$5.00/$2.15 (1U/2U)
Race 8: Haymans Caloundra Cup - Listed - 2400m – 4:45pm (AEST)
(2) Nikau Spur $16.00/$3.60: one for the multiples. Comes through the Brisbane Cup where he raced flat. The start prior, he was terrific over 2400m when he raced wide throughout and still got within 2.5L of CAMPALDINO (was specked that day going $41>$18). Draws for a much better run today, Bailey Wheeler is riding in great form, and he’s genuine. The drier the better.
(5) Bear On The Loose $4.60: Irish import that looks ready to peak in a race with a long tail. He sat up on a fearsome speed two back over 2000m at Randwick on a genuine heavy 9 (he went 14.3L faster than average to the 600m mark) when he kept whacking away to beat all bar GLORY DAZE who had the drop on him (went enormous / beat home the co-leader by a huge margin / massive gaps in behind). He had three weeks between runs before stepping out over 2400m last start when he crossed over from a wide gate to lead before sticking on gamely to beat all bar SIR LUCAN who peeled off his back (ties in with DON DIEGO DE VEGA and HOPEFUL / ran very well). He draws barrier 1 today and looks to be the sole leader again, so he could get an easier time of things in front. I think he’s primed fifth up, he’ll stay the trip, running on a soft track is ideal, and Angela Jones is flying. The one to beat
(12) Half Yours $3.80: the obvious danger after two excellent runs. He took off mid race over 1800m two back and sustained the run to win nicely with big gaps behind. He went to 2000m last start with 60kgs on his back and raced 3 wide no cover the entirety before getting beaten in the final few strides (went enormous / clearly should’ve won). Has a sticky gate to overcome but has upside.
(5) Bear On The Loose
$4.60 (1.5 Units)
