NRL Sharks vs Titans Betting Tips

It’s not the usual 3-game NRL Super Saturday which fans know and love, but Saturday promises to be full of exciting NRL action. Sydney finally gets its fix of rugby league also with the Sharks hosting the Titans. There are positives emerging for both teams in 2026 and each will be determined to capitalise on them to begin their campaign on a winning note. There is also a chance that losing could build pressure and both will be desperate to avoid that outcome in what they would see as a ‘winnable’ match to start the season. Below, Scooby dissects the contest and brings you his best bets!

Sharks vs Titans Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 1 2026

Now’s the time for the Sharks

After several season of appearing capable but falling short of competing with the premier teams in the competition, now is the time for the Sharks to take a step forward. They must overcome the omission of several key players through injury but are still fortunate to name a strong side for this match. Attention on their spine will grow as they appear to hold the key to this team getting better. Perhaps unfair, the Sharks need them to lead this team around the field and generate points off the strong platform established by their forwards.

Yet again, another new direction

The perennial under achievers, the Titans, head in another new direction with incoming coach Hannay at the helm. With high praise for the rookie coach, they will have a tough time of transforming the culture of this club which appears to have a foundation in losing. The difficulty of winning was increased with Campbell being unavailable at halfback, while a host of other new faces will also be given their chance to perform at this level. If they are to change their fortunes, they must perform well in this contest to start the season off on a positive.

Stats that matter

- The Titans have won just 1 of the past 12 matches against the Sharks. It explains why they have just a 25% win record at this ground (3 wins in 12 attempts).

- Blowout victories have become the norm when these two sides meet. The average margin of victory is 23.6 points, with 3 games decided by 30 points or more.

- The average total of points is lower than expected, sitting at just 45.2 points. 4 of the 5 games have been decided by 44 points or less, with a blowout 76-point match the last time these two sides met skewing the data.

The Great Unknown

The odds suggest that the Sharks should comfortably win this contest but there is also minimal change within this squad to spark a dramatic change in 2026. Perhaps the consistency and faith put into the current squad of players will give rise to confidence within the playing group, especially in the spine. The Titans have a great opportunity as outsiders to cause an upset but a lot with must go right for that to happen. The fact that they’re without their first-choice halfback increases the difficulty for them. This creates doubt as to where the points will be created from. While Ilias is capable enough and he is playing behind a big pack of forwards, he still needs to make the right choices for his team; this includes his kicking game, which has often been a downfall. The Sharks should take it to them in the forwards and allow the outside backs to dominate. It will not be as easy as that and as it’s early in the season – and the Titans also have a new coach with high expectations – expect their team to hang in this contest longer than they should.

Leg 1 = Total points under 48.5 – set high, this would go against the trend of the recent matches between these two sides. Noted strong defenders, the Sharks will give little away. The Titans are also expected to be solid in this area after a new regime has overtaken this team.

Leg 2 = Either team to win by 1-12 – this option is ideal considering the ‘Suggested Bet’. It allows for a 12-point victory to the Sharks also and should have you cheering on a close contest.

Leg 3 = Ramien to score – he has scored 3 tries in the past 5 matches against the Titans included 2 in the past 3 games. He is dynamic at centre and will take the defensive line on given any opportunity to do so.

Scooby's strength is assessing the overall team - what they offer across the field in a match and how the ethos of a club contributes to their success. Momentum also has a major impact on sports, and Scooby likes to explore this, while underpinning his judgement against a solid basis of statistical analysis. When combined with the aforementioned points, it combines for a holistic approach towards betting on rugby league.

Other sports he enjoys include Cricket, Horse Racing and NFL. There is a reason why Scooby ‘clicked’ with BYB from Day 1 - he loves his sport as much as we do.
