Sha Tin hosts the Chinese New Year meeting on Tuesday evening and the card is a massive one with 11 races scheduled to take place! There are plenty of runners to analyse and plenty of avenues to look at regarding betting propositions.
Blake Lalor is in the saddle as he brings us his best bets for Sha Tin.

Race 1
(3) Baby Crystal has performed well in his 4-start career having been runner up on 3 occasions. He finds a weaker race here on paper and can notch up his first win for Zac Purton and John Size.
(1) Mr Valiant is the horse which looks the biggest danger to Baby Crystal in this race. He drops in class for this event after running quite well last time behind Adios at Happy Valley. Karis Teetan rides from a good gate.
(5) Call Me Dandy seems to have been kept under wraps a bit in his trials as he’s crossed the line midfield under minimal riding by the jockey on a few occasions. He’s drawn wide 1st up here so probably can’t win but looks like he’ll be a decent horse in time.
(3) Baby Crystal

Race 2
(6) Medic Elite never really got a chance to settle in his last attempt over 1650m at Happy Valley. He was working outside runners the entire way and faded late in the home straight. Karis Teetan should be able to drop him into the perfect position on the rail this time from gate 3 and the horse should have very possible chance to win from there.
(7) Team Goodluck gets Zac Purton aboard and at his best can be a serious racehorse. He’s drawn well enough to impact this race but isn’t very trustworthy having only won once from 16 tries.
(12) Handsome Guys is another horse drawn well. He’s still a maiden and has only run a few good races but from gate 2 he looks likely to run well. May not be good enough to win but one for exotics.
(6) Medic Elite e/w
$8.50/$3.20 (1 unit e/w)
Race 3
(3) Turin Warrior should be winning this race. He was narrowly defeated by Viva Popcorn last time and met a similar fate the start prior when defeated by Fearless Fire. Eventually he’s going to get the elusive win and with the aid of gate 5 and Zac Purton aboard dropping to 1400m at Sha Tin, I’m expecting the horse to win today.
(2) Spicy Grill would have to be the main danger in this event even with gate 12. He’s a get back horse so the wide barrier shouldn’t hinder his performance too much. Expect him to capitalise if the leaders overdo it as he’ll be winding up around the turn and into the straight.
(10) Thunderboltaurus was good enough for a pass mark on debut. He’ll need to improve off that run to win a race but he should be expected to improve significantly given that was his debut run.
(3) Turin Warrior

Race 7
(7) Joyful Genius is in tremendous form. He wasn’t able to win last time but flashed home from the rear of the field for 2nd. He’s drawn perfectly for Purton this time and should be able to return to winning ways here.
(10) Jiangxi Stamina has form which ties in to this favourite having run 3rd to him a few starts back. He has won a race since and is clearly in good enough form to win this race.
(5) Yellowfin is also in good form but lacks the conviction to be first past the post. Maybe that will change today but I’m more confident going with the winners than the placegetters.
