The Class 1 Chevalier Cup headlines today’s meeting but the major talking point is James Mcdonald arriving for his extended stint in Hong Kong during which he’ll compete in HKIR week. Having ridden just yesterday in Australia it will be interesting to see how he copes on a great day’s racing at Sha Tin.

Race 4: Chevalier Property Management Hcp (C3) – 1200m (16:15 AEST)
(4) Packing Bole could be as simple as if he leads he wins here. It sounds simple but the AWT often presents results like this and the horse is flying regardless based on his latest performance.
(2) Adefill is a specialist on this surface and won’t go down easily. Jmac is aboard looking to break through early for his stint in Hong Kong.
(6) Self Improvement gets leader’s back here and boasts incredible overall stats indicating he’s consistent. Zac Purton aboard is a big positive.
(4) Packing Bole win

Race 6: Chevalier Building Supplies & Engineering Hcp (C4) – 1400m (17:40 AEST)
(2) Beato will be hard to beat in this if he reproduces the run from last start from barrier 1 with more luck in the straight. He was a solid 2nd where he had to change direction multiple times and pick himself up to make ground last time.
(5) Super Legends is the easy quinella pick here boasting a win and 2nd placing from his 2 career starts so far. Jmac is aboard from a good gate so expect the horse to be right in the mix.
(7) Celtic Times rolls forward and can threaten this race from a long way out if he manages to get a comfortable time in the lead.

Race 9: Chevalier Cold Storage & Logistics Hcp (C3) – 1600m (19:15 AEST)
(2) Beautyverse was up in grade last time where he worked around the field late to finish a strong 2nd. He finds easier opposition this time with the aid of barrier 1 so should be extremely hard to beat.
(7) Master Of Fortune is the main threat having won last time and going around here from a good gate with Zac Purton aboard.
(6) Romantic Charm is the smokey for me returning from Australia on his trip with Romantic Warrior. The wide gate is a challenge but one Jmac is accustomed to overcoming.
