Scone Racing Tips – Saturday, May 13th 2023
Race 5 – Ortensia Stakes (13:25 AEST)
(3) Quantico deserves favouritism here after trialling like a jet behind Giga Kick in the lead up. He’s drawn well and is almost impossible to beat on dry ground with a record that reads 11:7-1-0.
(4) Athelric is going well, Dylan Gibbons is flying, the horse is drawn gate 1 and gets back to a dry surface here which he clearly prefers. Confident the horse is overs and can improve to run top 3 or even win on Saturday.
(5) Andermatt beat Athelric home last time but had a better time of it in the race. Doesn’t look to get it as much in his favour from gate 11 this time but can still be a threat.
(3) Quantico – Win

Race 8 – Luskin Star Stakes (15:10 AEST)
Where is the limit for (4) Tamerlane? He’s showing no signs of reaching a limit yet winning by 3.5L last time out. Wide draw might pose some difficulty this time but the horse is absolutely on fire.
(7) Waihaha Falls is the best horse in the race but is at his best on wet ground. Hard to be confident with him as favourite on dry ground here although he’s not out of this by any means.
(5) Titanium Power is the leader and can run well here without pressure on him early. Any leader bias will enhance his chances significantly.
(4) Tamerlane – E/W

Race 10 – Bm78 (16:30 AEST)
(4) Soami can win here. He demonstrated very consistent form last prep and returns here from gate 5 on a dry track and has won 1st up previously.
(20) Talbragar drops back to 1100m after racing over 1400m his last few. Interesting decisions there but the horse is clearly capable of winning.
(3) With Your Blessing doesn’t know how to run a bad race. He’ll run well from the wide gate but may struggle to win from out there with the big weight.
(4) Soami – E/W
