Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday July 9th 2025

July 8th 2025, 2:31pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Sandown Racing Tips

Sandown’s Lakeside venue will conduct an eight race program on Wednesday and in wintry, wet and windy conditions, gallopers are expected to race on a Soft7. Race one starts at 12:25pm (AEST) and the maidens will get us started there. My three bets come up in the middle and later races on the program and I hope to get a profit for followers. It's just a moderate meeting but my selections in races 4 and 8 look like promising types.

Brendan Bunworth has done the form to bring you his three Sandown best bets for the day as well as his Quaddie selections, with odds thanks to Neds. And if you’re after more free tips for this week's key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips page!

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, 9th July 2025

Race 4: Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap - 2:10pm (AEST)

(12) Legacy Bay is fit now and will find this race more to her liking as she drops a grade after running 4th at Hillside last start. She was backed to win there and still raced well but with extra fitness and an extra 100m here, she does look well placed in this. Cartwright keeps the ride and when she raced over 1400m last time she finished 2nd so the journey suits.

(5) Two Wolves won well at Cranbourne last start but will find this harder. The win was over the 1400m so I have decided to stick him in for a Place at good odds. From barrier 1 the Anthony Sam Freedman gelding should position up nicely.

(6) Bold Strike will go forward and could even lead these like he did last start when 2nd at Cranbourne over 1300m. Does have to run an extra 100m here but it is his second go over the distance.

(12) Legacy Bay WIN

$4.00 (1 Unit)

Race 6: Evergreen Turf Handicap - 3:20pm (AEST)

(3) Hanafubuki gets a senior jockey on here in Shinn and he won on top at his only steer last time. That win was before a small let up and on that occasion at Pakenham she smashed them by 2.25L. That was on a Good track and despite her poor form on Soft tracks, with the wind around I don't think the track will be too wet.

(6) Whistle Down has good Soft track form and at double figure odds can run a good race here. Meech tried to lead all of the way on top last time and may try the same tactics here. She was 2nd at Lakeside last start but beaten less than a length.

(8) Sun Gift came from midfield last start when 2nd at Geelong and is the likely second fav here. She has placed at this track previously and has placed on the Soft.

(3) Hanafubuki Each-Way

$4.60/$1.95 (1 Unit)

Race 8: Sportsbet Fastform Handicap - 4:30pm (AEST)

(15) Dreams Come True has had a small break since her Sale 2nd last start but has had a winning trial in between. Williams takes the steer and despite all her form being on the Dry tracks, this one should dry out throughout the day. She is a previous winner over the mile and she has run well over the 1700m too so the distance looks good. She drew a bad barrier last start (12) and Willow will enjoy barrier 6.

(7) Magarten is consistent having run in the top 3 in over half of his career starts. He likes this distance and Logan Bates would have benefited from riding him in one start previously and rides with 3kg less this time.

(16) Eye For An Eye settled 2nd and stayed there over the concluding stages at Geelong last start so the decrease in 100m looks ideal. From barrier 12 McNeil will likely roll forward with a drop back in distance, Eye For An Eye should be in the finish.

(15) Dreams Come True WIN

$3.00 (2 Units)
