Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday 31st August

Race 1

(13) Waltz on By is sure to attract support with trainer Peter Moody in fine form and looking ominous to present many winners over the Spring. Out of I am Invincible x Stay with Me she is sure to improve after her first up sixth at Caulfield last start when Jamie Kah was on board. In terms of jockeys, she doesn't lose much with another quality rider in Luke Nolen on top. At just her second start Waltz on By was only beaten 2.75L in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes when an unlucky ninth.

(3) Custodian comes over from New South Wales for trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman and had a nice jumpout at Flemington two weeks ago.

(9) Yaki Ishi has a good barrier in one to settle just behind the leader and has in-form Craig Williams on.

(10) Bonheur is first up from a spell but did run a nice third on debut last campaign.

(13) Waltz on By

$2.40 (2 Units)

Race 3

(1) Don Diego ran third at this track back in April when beaten one length and for Greg Eurell he will have benefited from that effort. He is first up after four months off but has had two recent jumpouts. One of those jumpouts he looked very good when second while at his latest one he wasn't asked to do too much when sixth. His last race was a 500k race at Caulfield which is obviously a lot better than this. Don Diego won’t be 100 percent fit yet but Eurell should have him primed for a top three finish in this.

(3) Blow In for Jamie Edwards keeps Williams on top which is an advantage after he raced away to a nice Victory at Geelong two weeks ago.

(9) Savonia has been in the top three in seven of his 10 outings.

(5) Read returns to the track where he ran a solid third two weeks ago but will need to be stronger to win this.

(1) Don Diego

$2.80 (2 Units)

Race 4

(4) Defiant Diva is a consistent type who ran a nice third at Flemington a month a go over 1410m and has been kept relatively fresh for this. Before that she was an easy winner on this track on a Soft 6 so she should like similar conditions in this. The start before that was on a Heavy surface and she didn't seem to like it when sixth, so I want the track to stay Soft for this one.

(7) Seonee won well on a Soft 6 at Geelong last start and similar to above will want the track to stay at its current rating. She isn't gifted with fast pace out of the barriers and will likely settle midfield.

(8) Rose Dior has barrier one which may assist, and she comes into this after almost getting the winners cheque at Sale a week ago over 1717m.

(3) Rusutsu will obviously attract a lot of support for Moody/Kah.

(4) Defiant Diva EW

$4.80/$1.70 (2 Units)

Race 7

(10) Galleon has been kept relatively fresh since his solid third at Geelong on August 3. On that occasion he settled well back and stormed home and with Damien Oliver on board again, Ollie will know how to handle the horse who does look to have some talent. Galleon has previously won on the Soft so the track should hold no issues.

(1) Kooled has won four from 10 and has to be respected. He was beaten a head at this track last start and he just has to be included.

(2) Daytona Bay is a last start winner and has won two from three starts on Soft ground.

(4) Attractable is a slight query on the surface but did run an impressive second last start at Caulfield.

(10) Galleon EW

$7/$2.50 (2 Units)
