Sale will host an eight race program on Wednesday and after 5mls of rain in the area on Tuesday, be sure to monitor track conditions. The maidens start us off but I have concentrated on races later in the day. Dark Simba is our best if the day in the last at $2.40.
Brendan Bunworth offers his best bets for Wednesday at Sale below, and be sure to head over to our Racing Tips page regularly as we offer our best bets for all the key meetings each week.

Sale Racing Tips: Wednesday, May 28th 2025
Race 5: Ranford’s Family Butcher Handicap - 2:20pm (AEST)
(1) Varane gets the gun draw in 2 and will likely settle in 3rd or 4th position in this so it will give him every opportunity. He has raced well previously with Billy Egan on top and he has been in the money 6 from 8 starts. Last start he had no luck at Lakeside when 4th after getting no room in the straight.
(4) La Casona won a trial but has barrier 11 in this which makes it tough. She may want rain on the day too and at the time of print, there has only been 1ml fallen on the surface. Has won over the 1400m though and is in leading hands.
(5) Pardon My French likes Sale and likes this distance but similar to La Casona, may want it wetter. Sat handy at Hillside last start when 3rd.
(1) Varane WIN
$3.60 (1 Unit)
Race 7: Kwik Twin Bins Handicap - 3:30pm (AEST)
(9) Sacred Rocks resumes here and will want the track to stay Dry. She won a Cranbourne jumpout on May 19 and she gets an experienced jockey here with Blake Shinn on top. Before her spell she was beaten a nose at Lakeside and she drops back 200m here so whatever she does this time you would she will improve again. In saying that, I think she can win this and step up to Saturday class in the Winter.
(11) Royal Invader will get back so barrier 11 doesn’t matter too much and she will be running on well. Has won over the 1200m and she has had 6 weeks in between runs.
(12) Irrefutably hasn't raced for 8 months and may want it damper in a few weeks. She is over the odds though and is worth a Place bet.
(9) Sacred Rocks WIN
$2.90 (2 Units)
Race 8: Maffco Brewery and Distillery Handicap - 4:05pm (AEST)
(12) Dark Simba is a last start winner who can salute again here in the last. She box seated and scored when $1.60 at Pakenham last time and this race is only a little stronger. Anything over even money is a good bet after settling well last start. Jy McNeil is on and the money has already come for this guy with Jye having won on him previously. The Hayes may be setting him or a race or two in the Spring I reckon.
(13) Dreams Come True will want the rain to stay away and if it does he is the main danger. He can be slow out in his races which is the issue but he was too good at Geelong when coming from near last recently. His second up form is sound having won before when second up from a spell.
(14) Midori Mover is fit now and hasn’t been getting defeated too far of late. Hasn’t looked like winning but the $21 on offer looks ok. A Place bet may be the way to go though.
(12) Dark Simba WIN
$2.40 (2 Units)
