Rosehill Gardens Racing Tips: Saturday, September 28th 2024

Race 1: Midway BM72 1300m – 11:55am (AEST)

(4) The Extreme Cat $6.00/$2.25: Rock hard fit 5YO who won well back to back before stretching out to 1500m which was maybe a little too far? Drops back to 1300m now and looks another top chance at an each way price.

(18) Alabama State $3.80: Won well when resuming and then tackled this same grade last start and wasn’t that far away. Draws a better gate today and gets out an extra 100m which will suit. Fitter and ready to win.

(20) Byron $26.00:  Blow out hope of the race who is proven over this track and trip and goes well on the soft track. 3rd up now, so all the fitter for the first two runs. Sneaky chance?

Tip: No Bet

Race 2: Tab Highway Hcp Class 2 1500m – 12:30pm (AEST)

(6) Miss Ghent $16.00 Been a little disappointing returning both runs this time round, but has had to carry big weight on both occasions. Gets back to a more suitable weight and will be fitter now third up. Only 2L away in a BM74 over 1400m last prep carrying a similar weight. Draws a better gate today and can be a blow out hope.

(8) Hulu $9.50: 4YO Mare who won nice last start dropping back in trip, but now must jump back out to 1500m. Early money support suggests she is capable?

(15) Due Calzini $4.00:  Early Fav of the race who was well beaten last start over 1400m, but expect improvement second up. Winner over this distance and goes well on the wet. Top pick.

Tip: No Bet

Race 3: Toyota Forklifts Colin Stephen Quality 2400m- 1:05pm (AEST)

(1) Changingoftheguard $5.50: Best rated horse in the race and on paper should probably be winning, but was beaten by two other runners in this race last time out. J-Mac sticking on is a positive. Watch the market.

(2) Strathtay $3.20:  Consistent type who has been racing very well with a few wins amongst his runs. 2 x winner on the soft track and if there is more rain about she will be a key runner here.

(8) Think N Fly $12.00:  8YO Vet who was pretty handy LS taking the rails run and finishing off strongly, just found one better. Finished 2.5L ahead of third (STRATHTAY). Must be respected off that run at odds.

Tip: No Bet

Race 4: Egroup Protective Services BM88 1900m – 1:40pm (AEST)

(7) Firestorm $13.00/$3.70: Terrific win first up at big odds and looks to be suitable over further now off that run. Key booking of J-Mac and proven on the soft track. Will be making a late charge.

(8) Unusual Legacy $3.00: Won well second up over 1800m in this grade, but now needs to lug an extra 3kg off that performance. Draws a nice gate and will once again be around the mark. Watch the market.

(11) Lauding $7.50: 5YO who has been crunched in the early market, but being a MyRaceHorse could play a role in that with a substantial amount of owners. However, has been racing well of late. Drops to 1900m now and is rock hard fit with a nice draw. Nice value chance.

(7) Firestorm E/W

$13/$3.70 (1 Unit)

Race 5: Petaluma Herritage Stakes 1100m – 2:15pm (AEST)

(1) Bodyguard $4.20: Resuming 3YO Colt who has plenty of potential and has only had one disappointing run. Porven wet track winner and unbeaten on both first up runs. Main danger.

(3) Gatsby $2.20: 3YO who didn’t fire last start on the dry track which may have been a factor. Back onto the wet track now where he has won both races. Clearly the one to beat again now. J-Mac sticks.

(6) Ikasara $5.50: 3YO who is 1 from 1 over this track/trip. Resumes today off two very nice trials. Value pick of the race.

Tip: No Bet

Race 6: Irresistible Pools & Spas BM88 1400m – 2:50pm (AEST)

(2) Ruby Flyer $15.00/$4.60: Roughie of the day who looks over the odds with any rain about. Won very well to end her campaign last time out in harder company where he would’ve won by more if he got out sooner. Terrific wet tracker and boasts a great record. Gets in well with a 3kg claim and expect him to be hooning late.

(10) Battleton $16.00: 6YO Gelding who was good two runs back and goes okay over this trip. Blow out hope.

(12) Willaidow $6.00: Terrific first up and second up before being flat LS. Unsure whether he is ready for the rise in trip off LS, but two prior runs were good. Happy to forgive LS?

(2) Ruby Flyer E/W

$15/$4.60 (1U/2U)

Race 7: Racing And Sports Golden Pendant 1400m – 3:25pm (AEST)

(1) Tropical Squall $8.50: Any leader bias could put this mare right in this a decent price. Expect her to lead and she is proven on the wet and loves this trip. Will take catching on the wet.

(2) Amelias Jewel $2.90: 5YO Mare who ran on well last start, but couldn’t pick up the international runner in Royal Patrionage. Expect her to be fitter now second up and once again will have admirers. Terrific horse.

(4) Semana $2.60: Freshened 5YO Mare who raced keenly Last start and appeared to be costly. She still ran on to finish 4th, only 1.3L behind the winners (VIA SISTINA/ZOUGOUTCHA/FANGIRL). Prior to that she ran three wide the trip in the Group 1 Tatts Tiara and only finished 1L behind BELLA NIPOTINA. She has been luckless at most runs, but still managed to run a big race. Hoping for some luck today and she should be hard to beat.

(4) Semana

$2.60 (2.5 Units)

Race 8: James Squire Golden Rose– 4:05pm (AEST)

(1) Broadsiding $3.20: 3YO Colt who was rather impressive last campaign winning 4 on the trot including a demolition job in the Group 1 JJ Atkins. Demands respect off last campaign and has trialled well leading into this first up run. Set weights makes him a big danger against the others here.

(2) Traffic Warden $4.00: Sensational return last start in the Run To The Rose where we tipped him to knock off Storm Boy which he did comfortably. Goes well second up and will be another top chance here.

(3) Storm Boy $4.80: 3YO Colt who has some bad barrier manners, but is clearly a talented type. If he jumps well he is well within his right to win this. Top chance.

(3) Storm Boy

$4.80 (2 Units)

Race 9: Canadian Club Shannon Stakes 1500m – 4:45pm (AEST)

(1) Celestial Legend $4.80: 4YO Grey who didn’t show his usual explosive TOF when resuming last start. Always improves second up and is proven on the wet track. Will need to carry top weight, but is a big sniff here.

(4) Osipenko $12.00/$3.60: 5YO who wasn’t too bad when resuming in the Theo marks. Will only be improving second up and J-Mac gets back into the saddle. Value pick.

(13) Tannhauser $18.00/$4.80: 4YO who was strong to the line in the Theo Marks. Rises to 1500m now which looks suitable off LS and keeps a low weight. Any rain will help as he goes well on the rain affected deck. Knockout hope.

Tip: No Bet

Race 10: Rosehill Bowling Club BM78 1100m – 5:25pm (AEST)

(1) Shezanalister $18.00/$4.60: 5YO Mare who drops back in grade today and gets in okay with a 2kg claim engaged. Draws a better gate today and looks a sniff at odds against the others here. Loves this trip and the soft track, so expect to see her flying late.

(5) Dollar Magic $19.00/$4.80: Very consistent horse who won well over this trip/grade first up last time round. Has trialled well leading into this and will once again be around the mark. Over the odds?

(11) Pharari $2.70: 4YO Mare who has began her career nicely racking up 3 wins and 2 seconds from as little as 6 starts. Won by almost 3L last start over 1000m. Rock hard fit and will play a role here.

(1) Shezanalister E/W

$18.00/$4.60 (1U/2U)
