Rosehill Racing Tips

This Saturday is Golden Eagle Day in Sydney, and how good is racing going to be this week! Nice card here with plenty of talent including this year’s Everest winner going around in some of the feature events later in the day.

Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday, November 4th 2023

Race 1: Highway C3 Hcp – 1200m (12:10 AEDT)

(4) Lisztomania is a good chance here from the good draw. He resumes from a spell since April where he was racing impressively in this grade and looked close to a win. Conditions look suitable for him today.

(2) Bandi’s Boy is definitely one of the more likely winners in this field although he’s short here considering the jockey downgrade and wider draw from last start.

(6) Tribeca Star arrives in Sydney from up north and is yet to miss a placing in his short career. Can threaten but needs to overcome a wide draw.

Race 2: 3&4YO Bm78 Hcp – 1500m (12:45 AEDT)

(1) Peace Officer is the favourite for mine. He’s flying, steps up in grade but has earned it and was impressive last start powering through the line to get up comfortably. Nash aboard is good and some pace on paper is also a positive.

(5) Fall For Cindy brings good form into this race running 4th behind Gringotts last start. She just lacks that strength of some of her competitors so I’ve relegated her to 2nd pick this time.

(3) I’mintowin comes here from NZ with group-level form. Interested to see how it measures up but not confident or knowledgeable enough to back the horse.

(1) Peace Officer - E/W

$5.50/$1.90 (1 Unit)

Race 3: Bm78 Hcp – 1900m (13:20 AEDT)

(8) Mountain Guest goes on top here by default. Not a lot to like about this race or much that stands out by any means so I’ve landed with this mare coming out of a group 3 last time.

(4) Peshmerga also comes out of a good race last start and can lead this race and control it. If she does, she could be hard to beat.

(2) Olympic Gaze can run a few blinders when he’s not expected to. Nice price in a small field.

Race 4: F&M Bm78 – 1200m (14:00 AEDT)

(2) Shohei is a clear top pick here with her Bendigo Gold Bracelet form. 2nd to Foxy Frida means this mare will be winning with a repeat performance. Trials have been good.

(7) Afterlight ran against Ballroom Bella last start and carried more weight and raced wider but fought well. Better draw, lighter weight, a lot in her favour.

(1) Miss Helfire drew a horrible gate for this but can win if she overcomes the tricky barrier and finds a solid position. Trial looked nice and prior form is strong.

(2) Shohei - Win

$2.45 (2 Units)

Race 5: Bm78 Hcp – 1300m (14:40 AEDT)

(5) Overriding is hard to beat here. She was completely chopped out at the start by horses drawn inside and outside her. Ran home strongly and can win if she settles closer without interference this time.

(3) Zoe’s Promise raced well for the Maher & Eustace team and was able to win a G2 in that time. Kris Lees has her now and she’s trialled nicely leading up to her stable debut. Can lead.

(1) Robusto was unlucky in the straight 1st up and can improve on that performance here with more luck. Wide draw is a mild negative.

(5) Overriding - Win

$3.15 (2 Units)

Race 6: The Four Pillars Bm68 – 1500m (15:20 AEDT)

(13) Satness is drawn ideally here and has been racing in phenomenal fashion recently. He beat Backrower comfortably last time they met and he should be favourite here quite clearly. If he leads, his winning chances only increase.

(4) Irish Kisses stands out in this field as one of the more capable mares and one with a stronger career record. She’s drawn horribly but can make the minors with luck.

(10) Backrower has to go in here even though he’s been extremely disappointing particularly considering his SP profile. Maybe he can improve here but he should at least be in the front 5 crossing the line.

(13) Satness - E/W

$10/$3.60 (1 Unit)

Race 7: Giga Kick Stakes – 1300m (16:00 AEDT)

(4) Private Eye worked crazily 3 wide the entire way in the Everest this year. He’s been unlucky not to win 2 editions of that race now and gets his opportunity to take revenge on Think About It who had every possible favour in the run last start. 1kg weight swing will help.

(1) Think About It is building a Winx-like record now but it has to end at some point. Enter: Private Eye, his stablemate.

(2) Cascadian is a smokey here resuming for his end-of-spring preparation. With gate 1 he’ll get a nice run and is a trial winner in the lead up to this race.

(4) Private Eye - Win

$3.80 (2 Units)

Race 8: 4YO Golden Eagle – 1500m (16:45 AEDT)

(12) Obamburumai has an elite racing style, getting back in his races and motoring through the line to win 3 of his 5 career starts and perform well at G1 level twice in Japan. I expect Josh Parr to dig the horse out of the gates and hold a midfield position from which this horse can work through his gears late and make a strong dive late. Will need some luck but can get it in a big field.

(19) Vienna Princess has a lot in her favour here having won 2 races now comfortably and getting Kerrin McEvoy aboard for Chris Waller. She should have plenty of racing room in the straight and is serially overpriced in markets.

(16) Amelia’s Jewel needs to bounce back from a lacklustre performance last time down south. She’s an exceptional racehorse and had a lot against her last time so it shouldn’t be hard for her to improve here.

No Bet

Race 9: Rosehill Gold Cup – 2000m (17:20 AEDT)

(6) Canberra Legend is hard to be confident in given he’s 1st up from overseas and doesn’t have the best record in his home country either. That said, the market loves him and we know the foreign stayers are much stronger than ours here.

(9) Stroke Of Luck is the best chance we have to knock off the European raider. He’s only got 52kg to carry and won nicely stepping up in trip to 2000m last time. Go son!

(7) Shibli goes in as he’s well weighted and on a hot streak of wins from up north. 2000m is a slight query but if he ever gets it, it’ll be today with only 52.5kg and Craig Williams in the saddle.

No Bet

Race 10: Bm78 Hcp – (17:55 AEDT)

(8) Smashing Eagle hasn’t lost my support just yet. His run last start was poor on face value but he’s been exceptional prior and although he may have reached the end of his preparation, I’m going one more time to see if he can bounce back.

(9) Jedibeel comes out of the same form race and now gets barrier 1. With some luck and clear running in the straight, this horse can absolutely win this race.

(3) Way To The Stars is building a strong overall record with 5 wins from only 15 career starts. He’s got another good chance to win here as favourite from barrier 3 with Nash Rawiller aboard.
