Richmond vs Geelong Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2025 Round 24
Top Two Finish Awaits the Cats
Geelong playing in finals has been a staple of the AFL since the turn of the century and they are all-but-set to finish second at the end of the home and away season with a 17-6 record (assuming they beat Richmond). The Cats are flying right now after four-straight demolition wins over Sydney, Essendon, Port Adelaide and North Melbourne. Superstar forward Jeremy Cameron is set to win the 2025 Coleman Medal with 79 goals and counting. Bailey Smith in his first season at the Cattery looms as one of the main Brownlow Medal contenders.
One Position Higher for Tigers
The final game of the season for Richmond, and there have been some positives this year. After a horror 2-21 record in 2024, the Tigers have managed a probable 5-18 record, lifting them from 18th in 2024 to 17th in 2025. An extra three wins for a young side are a positive, as the Tigers managed to beat Carlton in the opening round and a shock upset win over the Gold Coast in April. They have had some bad defeats this season as to be expected and their performance in Tasmania against North Melbourne last week simply wasn’t good enough: losing by 48 points.
Recent History
Since the 2020 Grand Final which saw Richmond beat Geelong, the Cats have won five of the past six matches against the Tigers who quickly dropped off after their dynasty ended. They met at GMHBA Stadium earlier this year with the Cats winning by 72 points. Geelong average 12 more inside 50s than Richmond in 2025, and an additional 30 kicks per game. Most key statistics are heavily in favour of the Cats which is no surprise as we have a top flag contender against a bottom two side.
Will Fans Be Hoping for a Mercy Rule? Here’s Our Richmond vs Geelong Tip
There are no certainties in life, let alone the AFL, but Geelong is almost over the line already as this should be a one-sided thrashing with the Cats in cruise control for most of the game. This one could get ugly as the Cats look to take momentum into their upcoming Qualifying Final match.

Richmond vs Geelong Prop Bet
Here’s Our Best Prop Bet: Cameron 5+ Goals
The soon-to-be two-time Coleman Medal winner Jeremy Cameron was goalless against Sydney last week and will be looking to bounce back prior to the finals. He kicked 4.5 against the Tigers earlier this year and looks a strong chance to boot five or more goals. Going to suggest a second bigger goal line too, because if he is on fire, Cameron could well and truly cash in with a proper bag.

Jeremy Cameron 5+ Goals: See Prop Bet above.
Bailey Smith 30+ Disposals: Smith immediately became one of Geelong’s most important players in his first season with the team, expect him to rack up plenty of possessions against a struggling Tigers team.
Jacob Hopper 25+ Disposals: Hopper is consistent in terms of reaching 20+ disposals and his recent form suggests he can get 25 or more: he had 27 against the Cats earlier in the season.
