Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday September 2nd

Race 1: Midway Bm72 Hcp – 1400m (11:45 AEST)

(11) Eyeque is a sneaky chance in this race and gets my favour here in a tough race on paper and a tough race to analyse. He’s better than his past 2 efforts on paper and could step up here with 2 runs under his belt.

(1) Straight Acer is the proven form runner having won 2 of his last 3 races. Wasn’t sold with this horse last start and still lack confidence in him. All you can do is keep winning!

(3) Backrower simply seems overhyped to me in the market. He was admittedly wide and in a tricky position last start from barrier 12 but you still have to take a lot of his hype on trust at this stage which I’m not willing to do.

Race 2: Highway C3 Hcp – 1200m (12:20 AEST)

(12) Manzoni holds the same form lines as most of the short runners here but was unlucky on the rail last time now shows up at the same price. Looks well-placed, goes forward, can win.

(14) Centre Bounce will be the horse to beat on her latest performance. She seared down the outside of the track last time under Tyler Schiller’s urgings and now draws gate 2 for Zac Lloyd to get one of the runs of the race.

(4) Sungblue was checked, blocked for a run and never clear last start when 14th of 16. He’ll be right in this race if he can jump on terms and hold a position on the rail. That’s the risk.

(12) Manzoni e/w

$16/$4.6 (1 unit)

Race 3: Mares Bm78 Hcp – 1100m (12:55 AEST)

(2) Waverider buoy is becoming very costly to follow but she continues to present as the top choice in her races after producing incredible sectionals and losing by narrow margins in her races. This favourite is up significantly in grade and a short price.

(11) Dancing Alone as mentioned is a short price to be jumping from bm64 company to bm87 here. Consider that Waverider Buoy is down from bm84 class and it’s hard to be confident.

(6) Ojai is a standout in class here but is drawn awfully and turns up here fresh off 2 trials. Again, difficult to be confident in the mare but she’s classy and could win without surprising.

Race 4: Bm94 Hcp – 1600m (13:30 AEST)

(12) Tazaral is absolutely flying and can win again in a weak field. The wide draw is a minor concern but he has a clear edge on form in this field so deserves to be favourite.

(4) Mission Phoenix was somewhat unlucky last start and better than perfect thought prior to that. Compared to that horse he has to be considered overs in this race from barrier 3.

(8) Logan Street Lion will benefit from the Jmac factor here. He has barrier 4 and has been good and consistent throughout his career.

(12) Tazaral win

$3.80 (2 units)

Race 5: Listed City Tatts Cup – 2400m (14:05 AEST)

(1) Desert Icon has Nash on here and is 2nd up now after a short 7-week spell prior. He’s a class runner here, has gate 1, and is a great e/w price.

(10) Verona was great last start in much weaker company. She’s up significantly in grade here and favourite which is typically not an ideal recipe. Can’t trust her but she’s a solid chance.

(13) Mostly Cloudy is as consistent as they get. Drawn wide but will get back and look to finish strongly. Pace doesn’t look too strong here which is the minor concern but she’s a top hope.

Race 6: Group 2 Furious Stakes – 1200m (14:40 AEST)

(5) Kimochi was the flashing run last time when 3rd and was tipped there. She comes up as favourite this time and this is her chance to break through. Very keen and looking for a big win here.

(8) Cigar Flick was impressive in the same race as some of her opposition last start where she was back in the field but closed strongly to only just miss. That was off the back of a great 1st up win. Right in this.

(2) Autumn Ballet was tough to win last time. She’ll have to be even tougher to win again but races on speed so takes some luck out of the equation. Keen to see how the daughter of the legendary ‘The Autumn Sun’ goes.

(5) Kimochi win

$4.00 (3 units)

Race 7: Group 3 Concorde Stakes – 1000m (15:15 AEST)

(1) Nature Strip will be hard to run down from the lead fresh. He’s not getting any younger but might just be able to catch these horses off guard over the 1000m. Not much meat on the bone but he’s top pick.

(9) Remarque is going places. Hopefully this is the spring he finally puts it together and furnishes into the horse he’s been giving glimpses of throughout his career. That can start today.

(8) Zapateo has trialled up a storm and she could be the one ready to go fresh here. Speedy type and loves it wet.

Race 8: Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes – 1600m (15:55 AEST)

(1) Think it over is favourite and deservedly so here. He races on speed and was unlucky not to finish closer 1st up where the winner chopped him out of a run and Nash was forced to restrain.

(10) Duais stormed home last time behind Fangirl in the Winx Stakes. She’s better suited 3rd up over even further than 1600m so I’ll have a close eye on her here but be waiting to see how she goes and how she sets up next time.

(11) Montefilia also launched home in the Winx Stakes after missing the start slightly and going back under Dylan Gibbons. James Mcdonald is aboard from gate 3 here so she’s well-placed to run well. Main danger if she lands closer.

Race 9: Group 2 Tramway Stakes – 1400m (16:35 AEST)

(12) Hope In Your Heart is the best horse in this field on what she’s done in her career. She was enormous in a Doncaster among many other G1 races and won her only Group 2 attempt last season. Hope she returns well.

(4) Pericles was good 1st up but fought hard. He could bounce here 2nd up but is completely capable of winning in this company and over this trip. Danger.

(16) Olentia is getting a look in very tough company with very little race experience. This is make or break for her to step up and present as a future superstar of the sport being only a 4yo mare with 6 races under her belt.

(12) Hope In Your Heart e/w

$10/$3.2 (1 unit)

Race 10: Bm78 Hcp – 1200m (17:10 AEST)

(8) Garza Blanca is one of the better bets on the card provided the track stays relatively dry and doesn’t chop up during the day. He was unlucky not to be competitive with Smashing Eagle who has been going well lately and was unlucky not to win in tougher grade last weekend. Love this form line and confident here.

(10) Perielle loves wet ground and goes on top if the track deteriorates or the rain comes throughout the day. He’s continuing to improve and looks destined for tougher grade at some point in his career.

(4) Time To Boogie is a threat in this race which would be escalated by any leader bias that may eventuate throughout the day. If that’s the case, this horse will be hard to catch.

(8) Garza Blanca win

$2.90 (2 units)
