Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, July 12th 2025
Race 5: Toyota Forklifts BM78 - 1800m – 1:30pm (AEST)
(2) Piggyback $4.20: 4YO Mare who is racing in terrific heart this prep and had excuses last start when luck deserted her at a crucial stage. Held up badly in the straight, she never saw clear air and was essentially a passenger to the post, leaving plenty in the tank. She sticks to a similar line-up here but gets a handy weight swing thanks to the 2kg claim, which brings her right into calculations. Drawn a touch awkwardly, but with some cover in transit, she should be able to produce that sharp turn of foot we saw first-up when she stormed home for an impressive win. With even luck in running, she’s more than capable of bouncing back strongly. A definite winning hope.
(3) Federer $3.60: 4YO gelding who had plenty of interest when resuming after two dominant performances last campaign. He improved last start when he peeled to the outside and loomed the winner, but could get past the front runners. Strips fitter third up and has been put up as favourite. Chance.
(4) Misterkipchoge $5.50: 4YO gelding who finally got the chocolates last start after several chances. He has been sound in most of his runs this prep and will be looking to go on with things now. Drawn a sticky gate, but has to be considered again.
(2) Piggyback
$4.20 (1 Unit)
Race 8: Asahi Super Dry Handicap - 1600m – 3:20pm (AEST)
(4) Oh Diamond Lil $4.50: 4YO Mare who enjoyed a strong campaign last time in and has returned in good order this prep. Her first-up win over 1300m was full of merit — responded smartly when asked for an effort and pulled clear late for a comfortable victory. Forgive the second-up performance as she's certainly better than that, which she confirmed last start when enjoying a nice run in transit and finding the line strongly, just running into a smart winner on the day. (IT’S A KNOCKOUT). Now fourth-up and at peak fitness, she rates well against this field and maps to get another economical run. With her best form, she’s right in the mix and shapes as a genuine winning chance.
(7) Don’t Forget Jack $6.00/$2.30: 3YO Gelding who has been sound this prep if you can look past the second up run. Only finished being PUNTIN last start and meets him lighter at the weights this time with the 2kg claim engaged. Sticky gate looks the only concern, but expect a bold run.
(8) Puntin $4.60: 3YO Gelding who boasts an impressive CV with 4 wins and 2 seconds from 6 career starts. Third up after a lovely win last start, draws well and Ashley Morgan remains in the saddle with a lovely record on top. Maps well and will have plenty of admirers. Top hope.
(4) Oh Diamond Lil
$4.50 (1.5 Units)
Race 9: Tab Handicap BM88 – 1400m - 4:00pm (AEST)
(7) Razors $23.00/$4.80: 4YO Gelding who looks to be the roughie of the field. He was terrific to the line last start over 1200m boasting some slick late sectionals. (Second quickest for the day). The rise to 1400m looks ideal and he gets a decent alley. Strips fitter and wouldn’t be surprised if he finished top 3.
(10) It’s a Knockout $3.50: 4YO who was simply far too good last start over this trip, putting a gap on them to score by an impressive 4 lengths while clocking some sizzling late sectionals. She rises in grade here, but gets welcome weight relief with the 2kg claim from Nock, who sticks after riding her to victory. Draws perfectly to settle just off the speed and maps to get every possible chance in transit. The early market move from $4.50 into $3.50 is telling — she's clearly attracting support and looks set to go right on with it. If Oh Diamond Lil happens to frank the form in the race prior, the confidence only grows. A leading chance who deserves serious respect.
(16) Getafix $3.40: 3YO Gelding who opens favourite after a dominant win last start in BM72 grade winning by 6 lengths lugging 61.5kg. I appreciate this is a much tougher race, but only lugs 55.5kg. Jason Collett jumps in with J-Mac being overseas. Has to be considered off that electric performances last start and being down in weight.
(10) It’s a Knockout
