Randwick-Kensington Racing Tips: Wednesday October 26th

October 25th 2022, 6:35pm, By: Billy Bestford

Wednesday racing returns to the Kensington track at Randwick for a strong midweek meeting as we build up to the biggest week of the racing calendar. There are just six races on the card but there looks a few good winning chances so let’s hope we can find some winners.

There have been scattered showers in Sydney early this week but hot and sunny weather is forecast from Tuesday evening onwards. We should get an improving track.

As usual, Billy Bestford has had a look at the meeting and has found his best bets for the day.

Randwick-Kensington Racing Tips: Wednesday October 26th

Race 1

Keen to kick things off with (6) Kazou who debuts for Chris Waller off the back of some very smart trial work. He’s been a blackbooker for many trial watchers and finally makes it to the track following a couple of scratchings in recent weeks. I expect she gets back from the gate and just needs something to bring her into the race. Looks to have a good turn of foot and can get her maiden out of the way nice and early.

Stablemate (7) Maritima finished 3rd in both runs in debut prep with those races turning out to be pretty handy form references. Is yet to see a dry track and you would think she can improve here with race experience now on her side.

(11) Tragara should enjoy rising to 1300m after finishing off strongly first up to run 2nd. The horse that beat her that day looks handy and she can roll along up on speed and give them something to catch.

(1) Cavaup comes through a strong maiden and should improve back on top of the ground. Barrier 1 could be a slight knock but with luck I think she is right in this.

(6) Kazou

$2.15  (3 units)

Race 2

Forget (1) Picarones went around last week when given a barrier trial essentially. Never got clear running and looked to have plenty to offer in the straight. That was in a better race than this and the fact the stable have backed her up off 7 days tells me she is ready to go. The win two back in similar grade was very good. With a clearer passage in running she should just be winning.

(6) Typhoon Tavi should lead from barrier 3 and will be hard fit now third up. With Tim Clark aboard I expect she will get every chance to run a strong race.

(7) Vivid Flash has been desperate to get back onto drying ground and expect we see a big improvement from her today. She’s always flashed plenty of ability and should be ready 4th up.

(5) Chenin was tested in some deep races towards the end of last prep and will find this much easier. Probably needs the run but couldn’t leave out of the exotics at a price.

(1) Picarones

$2.60  (2 units)

Race 4

Going to have something on (9) Flying Witness who won on a protest last start at Goulburn, beating early race favourite Iowa. That horse then bolted in at Newcastle so there was plenty of merit to the win. I think with that confidence boosting win under the belt she can go on with it now. Her best form has been on top of the ground so any track upgrade will improve her chances.

As mentioned (3) Iowa lost the race on protest at Goulburn before bolting in at Newcastle at very short odds. Looks a smart stayer on the rise and no doubt he will take some running down.

(6) Essential Sky was an impressive winner in the wet at Warwick Farm two weeks ago. She stays in the same grade and rises in weight but is clearly in career best form.

(4) Inuwashi would be next best.

(9) Flying Witness

$7.00  (0.5 unit)

Race 6

(11) Comrade Rosa is unbeaten fresh and was thrown in the deep end last prep, tackling some black type. She was far from disgraced, finishing just 2.5L off Zapateo and A Very Fine Red in the Denise Joy. Back to a midweek bm72 I think the current $3.50 is a very fair price. Bowman does the steering and I expect she will be charging down the outside late off a strong speed.

(10) Camino real was  a big drifter 2nd up and ran accordingly. The first up win was dominant and considering her SP profile this prep you would have to respect her chances. I think she can improve here 3rd up.

(3) Too Much Caviar will bowl along up front and take some running down. He does his best work on the fresh side and have no doubt will be wound right up for this. Has raced well at this track before.

(5) All England could be the blowout chance and is worth throwing in your quaddies.

(11) Comrade Rosa

$3.40  (2 unit)
