Sydney Roosters vs Canberra Raiders
Undefeated for a reason
The Roosters had a week off last week, a timely reward ahead of this game for their undefeated season. Always expected to be strong, they have been a consistently great version of themselves in 2026. Such is their dominance, they have scored 434 points – 92 ahead of the next best team – and conceded just 116 points; their points difference this season is 318 points. They are at the top of every major statistic and continually break down opponents in multiple ways. Their attacking strength comes from experience and the multiple options at their disposal.
Upsetting their way forward
Finishing 5th on the ladder, the Raiders made it consecutive victories over the Tigers in as many weeks with a gritty 6-0 victory. With little separating either team, the Raiders were forced to be resilient in the match. They finished the season with momentum which was built around discipline and that was no different last week. With 53% possession, they completed at 86%, made 8.8m per carry, had 615 PCM’s, and 4 line breaks. Their defence was equally strong, allowing 0 line breaks and missing just 29 tackles. With a harder fixture ahead this week, they will need to be better in this area should they wish to be competitive.
Stats that matter
- These two sides met back in Round 3, and it was a 22-18 victory to the Roosters, their second closest margin of the season. The Raiders failed to convert a try in that game and only kicked one penalty goal.
- The Roosters have an 88% win record at their home ground, losing only 2 matches there in their entire history. The Raiders are winless in 2 attempts.
- It is no surprise that the Roosters are the dominant team on both sides of the ball this season. They average 39ppg in attack and concede just 10ppg defensively. The Raiders are not poor; they score 22ppg in attack and concede 13ppg.
Normal programming to resume
With a week off to freshen up for this game, the Roosters are well placed to continue their terrific form this season. The Raiders performed well against the Roosters previously and will take confidence from that performance. The circumstances are different heading into this game though; expecting the same thing to occur would be narrow minded. Both teams have improved since that game and the confidence of the Roosters in their defence is at its peak.
The Raiders, pushed by the Tigers in a tough game last week, would need to produce their best attacking performance of the season. Unfortunately, they appear limited in this area. This is why the odds are heavily favoured towards the Roosters and rightly so. You also must go search for value in this game. Rather than take on the line, which is temptingly set, the preferred option will be to use the total points to your advantage. Once the Roosters find their attacking momentum, they should run away with the result. The only danger to this option is the Raiders ability to score points, but such is the Roosters strength, they should have the firepower to cover for what their opponents lack.

Leg 1 = Roosters 13+ - it’s a safe inclusion to increase the value in this SGM.
Leg 2 = Sergis to score – her form has gone to another level in the past few weeks and few have been able to limit her involvement. Sergis has scored 9 tries in her past 5 NRLW games and will again be a threat on the edge for her team.
Leg 3 = Fessard to score 2+ tries – she has an incredible try scoring record this season with 11 tries from 8 matches. Fressard returns from injury in this game and will want to use her strong, powerful frame, to return to form in this game as quick as possible and it’s a threat from anywhere on the field.

Gold Coast Titans vs Brisbane Broncos
Surprising the lot and only getting better
It has been a terrific season to date for the Titans, but they will be aware of how a loss in this game can alter their achievements. Having lost their opening game of the season to the Roosters, the Titans have been on a victorious run ever since. In this time, they have dominated opponents with fast ruck speed and clever execution to continually score a high number of points in matches. Their defence has also been strong, having the second-best defensive record in the competition. Given a week off, they should be well rested for the challenge of a Finals game against a rival team.
A one player team?
It is unusual to pinpoint the hopes of the Broncos, a team stacked with numerous quality players across the field, on one player bit that is exactly what the facts say about their 2026 campaign. Winning their way through to this game with a comprehensive 40-16 victory over the Knights, the Broncos overcame 3 losses in the middle of the season to finish 3rd. Interestingly, those losses came when Brigginshaw was suspended. Last week’s match suggests they’re returning to their best; they dominated possession (59%), had a high completion rate (81%), made 10.6m per carry, and had 7 line breaks. They also only missed 28 tackles and will be full of confidence ahead of this game.
Stats that matter
- These two sides met at this ground back in Round 8, with the Titans recording a 28-20 victory over the Broncos. The Titans led 14-4 at HT and despite the Broncos scoring 2 tries in 5 minutes to start the second half, the Titans pulled away late.
- The Titans will be glad to be at home for this game, winning 65% of matches here. The Broncos have a 50% record from the 4 times they have played at this venue.
- The difference between these two sides in 2026 comes defensively. With both averaging 31ppg in attack, the Titans are slightly ahead of their opponents, averaging 14ppg compared to the Broncos 16ppg defensively.
Setting the standard for a reason
It is easy to be caught up in the Broncos and their quality team hitting form at the right stage of the season. They were at their damaging best last week, but the Knights also lacked the ability to match their opponents, especially the intensity which was set in the first half. There should be no such issues for the Titans and the quality team they’ve assembled. Hurt by the loss of Hippi in the backline, the lesser-known players in the home side have performed to a standard all season which rewarded them last week with a break. Do not underestimate the benefit of a break for a team who wants to be at their peak, and it should serve the Titans well towards the back end of this contest.
There is no doubting the quality and danger that the Broncos possess; the attacking threats they have across the field, lead by Southwell at halfback, will require a perfect defensive effort from the Titans. Promising as much in recent years and delivering so far this season, an upset is ahead with the Titans to progress through on the back of a spirited victory.

Leg 1 = Titans 1-12 – if they are to prevail, it will be a close contest, and this option increases the value of this investment sharply.
Leg 2 = Upton to score – she is integral to the success of the Broncos and has continually proven her worth this season with 14 tries from 12 matches played. Upton is hitting a great patch of form too, scoring 6 tries in her past 5 matches.
Leg 3 = Bostock to score – the shift of Chapman to centre has allowed Bostock more freedom on the edge as her edge partner attracts more defenders when she is in possession of the ball. Bostock has 3 tries from the past 2 games and 8 so far this season from just 10 games.
