St Kilda vs Sydney Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2026 Round 21

Saints Yet to Take a Scalp

St Kilda heads into Round 21 sitting in the final wildcard position with a 9-10 record after an emphatic 31-point victory over North Melbourne. The star of the afternoon was Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, who delivered one of the individual performances of the season with 46 disposals and four goals, while Bradley Hill collected 34 touches and Jack Higgins continued his consistent form in attack.

The Saints have now won three of their past four matches and boast an impressive 7-3 record at Marvel Stadium this season. Rowan Marshall returns to the side after missing last week, providing a huge boost around the stoppages, while Ross Lyon will again rely on his team's pressure and defensive structure to frustrate one of the AFL's most dangerous attacking outfits.

Swans Back to Devastating Best

Sydney responded in emphatic fashion last week, crushing GWS by 51 points in a performance that reminded the competition why it has spent much of the season near the top of the ladder. The Swans dominated the clearances 46-25, moved the ball with speed and precision and piled on 21.13 (139), with Charlie Curnow booting four goals to extend his lead in the Coleman Medal race.

Errol Gulden looked back to his best with 41 disposals after returning from injury, Chad Warner continued his outstanding campaign with 32 disposals and a goal, while Isaac Heeney again hit the scoreboard. Sydney averages a competition-best 109 points per game this season, but it has shown some vulnerability in recent weeks, dropping matches to Adelaide and Fremantle before last week's bounce-back victory.

Match Prediction and Best Bet

Sydney has been one of the AFL's benchmark sides over the past five seasons, but St Kilda has consistently matched up well against the Swans. The Saints have won two of their past four meetings, while their two defeats came by just five and two points respectively, proving they know how to make life difficult for one of the competition's heavyweights.

Back at Marvel Stadium after a confidence-boosting win over North Melbourne and with Rowan Marshall returning to strengthen the midfield, St Kilda looks capable of taking this deep into the fourth quarter. The Swans may still find a way to win, but the Saints' pressure game and disciplined defensive structure should ensure they stay within striking distance.

St Kilda vs Sydney Prop Bet

Liam Ryan hasn't quite hit the heights of his blistering mid-season purple patch, but he's still found the scoreboard consistently with seven goals across his past four matches. He also has terrific recent history against Sydney, kicking 5.1 when these sides met back in Round 14 in one of the best performances of his season. With St Kilda expected to create enough forward-half opportunities at Marvel, Ryan looks a great chance to kick multiple goals again.

Chad Warner 1+ Goal | Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera 30+ Disposals | Mattaes Phillipou 20+ Disposals | Nick Blakey 20+ Disposals

Chad Warner is always capable of hitting the scoreboard while spending significant time around stoppages, making him a strong anytime goalscorer. Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera has been unstoppable in recent weeks, producing 30 or more disposals in eight of his past nine matches, while Mattaes Phillipou has flourished since moving into a permanent midfield role. Nick Blakey rounds out the multi as one of Sydney's key distributors from half-back - where the Saints notoriously give up huge numbers - and should have ample opportunity to accumulate possessions.
