Bulldogs vs Warriors Preview & Betting Tips: NRL Round 21 2026

July 24th 2026, 3:22pm, By: Ben Bridge

Bulldogs vs Warriors Betting Tips

Saturday evening at Accor Stadium shapes as one of the most interesting market reaction games of NRL Round 21, as the Bulldogs host the second placed Warriors. Canterbury enters the matchup after a dominant 32-0 win over the Tigers, while New Zealand were forced to work considerably harder for a 20-12 home victory over the Dragons.

Those contrasting performances have caused the Bulldogs to be upgraded significantly by the market, but I believe too much has been made of the Tiger blowout. The Tigers were poor, lost discipline and spent periods with only 11 players after Alex Twal and Latu Fainu were sin binned. The Bulldogs deserve credit for taking advantage, but beating the Tigers comfortably is not the same challenge as facing one of the competition’s most complete sides.

My fair spread is approximately Warriors -6.5. The early number around Warriors -5.5 was pretty spot on, however with money coming in on the Bulldogs I’m eyeing the Warriors here, and I would be further interested if the line pushes to -3.5. Stephen Crichton returns for Canterbury after being rested, while Viliame Kikau moves back into the starting side. Andrew Webster has largely retained the Warriors team that beat the Dragons.

Bulldogs vs Warriors Prediction & Tips: 2026 NRL Round 21

Bulldogs Shut Out Tigers in Statement Win

Canterbury’s 32-0 victory over the Tigers was easily one of their most complete results of the season. They scored six tries, defended their line with commitment and kept the Tigers scoreless despite playing without captain Stephen Crichton. Sean O’Sullivan stepped into the halves and produced an influential performance, while Josh Curran crossed twice as the Bulldogs steadily took control.

The result lifted Canterbury to an eighth win and kept their finals hopes alive. Their form has improved considerably, with five wins from their past seven placing them within striking distance of the top eight.

However, the match context cannot be ignored. The Tigers lost discipline badly, with Twal and Fainu both sent to the sin bin. Canterbury handled the opportunity professionally, but the Tigers provided little attacking resistance and repeatedly handed the Bulldogs favourable field position. That makes it dangerous to automatically project the same attacking output against the Warriors.

The return of Crichton is significant. His move to five-eighth has transformed the Bulldogs’ shape, allowing Matt Burton to play in the centres and concentrate on his running game. Crichton brings directness, leadership, and physicality to the halves, while Lachlan Galvin can concentrate on organisation and kicking.

Kikau’s return to the starting side provides another attacking weapon on the left edge. He came back through the interchange last week following a pectoral injury and should be better for the run. Curran moves to the bench, giving Canterbury greater impact through the middle stages.

The Bulldogs are unquestionably improving. Their defence has sharpened, their spine looks more balanced, and Accor Stadium gives them a familiar setting. The question is whether the market has moved too quickly after one heavily one-sided result.

Warriors Grind Out Another Professional Win

The Warriors were nowhere near their attacking best against the Dragons, but still secured a 20-12 victory and returned to second position. St George Illawarra pushed New Zealand for most of the contest, with the Warriors forced to rely on patience, territorial control, and defensive resilience rather than the attacking fluency that has defined much of their season.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak ran for 229 metres and Taine Tuaupiki amassed 215 metres, underlining the enormous role New Zealand’s back five plays in their success. Their ability to begin sets strongly prevents opposition teams from consistently winning the territorial battle and gives Wayde Egan and the halves opportunities to play from the front foot.

The narrow score should not be viewed as a negative. The Dragons arrived fresh from the bye, defended with energy and have been significantly more competitive over the past month. New Zealand still found a way to win without overplaying, which is the sign of a team capable of sustaining a top two challenge.

The Warriors’ greatest advantage against Canterbury is through the middle. Their pack remains one of the competition’s deepest, and they have repeatedly shown an ability to wear opponents down rather than needing to dominate from the opening whistle. James Fisher-Harris provides leadership and aggression, Egan controls the ruck, and the outside backs convert territory into reliable yardage.

Their defensive profile is also superior to Canterbury’s. The Bulldogs have improved, but the Warriors have demonstrated across the full season that they can absorb difficult periods without allowing matches to get away. That resilience matters in what should be a more demanding contest than last week’s results suggest.

Webster’s decision to stick with the same core group reflects confidence in the performance rather than concern over the narrow margin. The Wahs did not play brilliantly, but they remained composed and took the two points. That profile travels well.

Bulldogs vs Warriors Recent History

The Bulldogs have won the past three matchups, with the two most recent being comfortable wins. These teams are far different from their 2024 and 2025 profiles though, and the Warriors deservedly come in as favourites.

Recent results:
• 2025 Round 23: Bulldogs def Warriors 32-14
• 2024 Round 25: Bulldogs def Warriors 34-18
• 2024 Round 18: Bulldogs def Warriors 13-12
• 2023 Round 11: Warriors def Bulldogs 24-12
• 2023 Round 4: Warriors def Bulldogs 16-14

Warriors Still the Better Team

The market appears to have placed heavy emphasis on last week’s scoreboards. Canterbury won 32-0, while New Zealand managed only 20 points against the bottom placed Dragons. Viewed without context, that creates an obvious argument for the Bulldogs. Once the circumstances are considered, the Warriors remain the value side.

Canterbury’s win came against a Tigers team that lost control emotionally and spent significant periods down players. The Bulldogs were excellent, but they were not forced to solve the kind of physical and tactical problems the Warriors will present.

The Warriors’ victory was less spectacular, but arguably more meaningful. They faced a disciplined opponent, were denied an easy afternoon, and still remained composed enough to win. New Zealand’s ability to grind out results is one of the primary reasons they sit second.

My fair spread is around Warriors -6.5, which makes anything below a converted try playable. The current number gives too much weight to Canterbury’s recent result and not enough to the broader gap between the teams.

The Bulldogs can win if Crichton and Galvin control field position, Kikau dominates an edge, and their defence reproduces last week’s intensity. They are no longer a team that can be dismissed, especially at Accor Stadium.

However, New Zealand have the better forward pack, more reliable back five yardage, and stronger defensive systems. If the Warriors keep their completion rate high, they should prevent Canterbury from receiving the cheap possession that fuelled last week’s blowout.

The most likely game script is competitive early before the Warriors gradually gain control through the middle. Fisher-Harris and the New Zealand pack should force Canterbury into longer defensive periods, while Egan can create speed once the Bulldogs’ markers begin to tire.

This may not be comfortable. The Dogs are improving and should keep the game live well into the second half. But the Warriors remain the better side, and a line of -4.5 is too short.

If this ever drops to Warriors -3.5, it’s a much bigger play, however at the current price, they are still a decent play here.

Bulldogs vs Warriors Player Prop Bet

Kiraz hasn’t scored since round 13 against the Tigers, and surely is due. I’m backing him in here against the weaker Warriors’ left edge defence.

Leg 1: Warriors (-4.5) – See best bet.

Leg 2 J Kiraz (1+ try) – See above best prop bet.

Leg 3: E Clark (1+ try) – A strong runner through the middle, Clark has four tries this season, with his last coming all the way back in round 11 against the Broncos. Like Kiraz, is due, and the Bulldogs middle has conceded plenty of tries this year. At a huge price.
