Raiders vs Tigers Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 21 2026
Finding a new level
It was a terrific performance by the Raiders in their 34-24 victory over the Rabbitohs at home, building on a strong 28-6 HT lead to cruise to victory. Despite an inferior share of possession (47%), they completed at 83%, ran for 9.3m per carry, and made 4 line breaks. They will be disappointed that they dropped the intensity in the second half, as it allowed the Rabbitohs back into the contest and to dominate more areas than they should have. It is a great step forward as they keep their Finals hopes alive, but the victory came at a cost, losing Young to a season ending injury.
The spiral continues
Another week, another disappointing Tigers result. This time, they were comprehensively defeated 32-0 by the Bulldogs on the road and never looked capable of cracking their opponent’s defensive line. Despite 2 sin bins in the second half hurting their cause, they managed to concede an 18-0 HT deficit. They were their own worst enemy too as they completed at just 75% with 45% possession. This saw them average only 7.8m per carry and fail to make a line break. 29 missed tackles, 680 PCM’s conceded and allowing 9.7m per carry to their opponents highlights issues defensively, as well as their attack.
Stats that matter
- The Tigers recorded a 33-14 victory over the Raiders in Round 8, but it still hasn’t helped their recent record, with the Raiders winning 10 of the past 12 games between these two sides. This is why they have such a poor record at this ground (59% vs 42%) compared to the home team.
- Close games are a rare occurrence when these two teams meet. The average margin of victory in the past 5 matches is 16.2 points, with moderate scoring, as the total points average is 45.
- The Raiders have performed better thus far than the Tigers on both sides of the ball. They score 21ppg in attack while allowing 25ppg defensive. While not great, it is still superior to the Tigers, who score 19ppg and concede 28ppg.
Quality to prevail
The loss of Pattie and Hudson ahead of this game will impact the effectiveness of the Raiders in this contest but it shouldn’t stop them from winning this game. Their form recently has been superb, with the most recent effort against the Rabbitohs demonstration signs that Sanders has found his confidence at halfback. That is crucial to their chances and should be enough compared to what their opponents are offering.
With the Tigers on the slide, they need a circuit breaker. The news of Doueihi playing decreases the impact of Fainu’s suspension. If they find a spark, they are capable on their day. However, their recent defensive efforts in matches suggest there is disconnect and a lack of motivation.
In perfect, cold conditions, the Raiders should be able to cope with what is thrown at them, covering the line with a strong base set in the middle of the field by the forwards. This will allow them to feed the ball to their strong, powerful outside back that need minimal invitation to challenge an opponent.
