Western Bulldogs vs West Coast Eagles Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2026 Round 18
Time To Get Going
The Bulldogs produced a very disappointing performance on the back of their bye, going down by 35 points against Sydney. A goalless first quarter was ultimately the difference in the game, as the Dogs trailed by five goals for the majority of the remaining three quarters. The Bulldogs were beaten in most of the major stats recording -79 disposals, -25 marks, -20 inside 50’s and -10 contested possessions. The Dogs were also -41 hitouts after Luke Beveridge’s decision to play Tim English at full back for the majority of the game after a poor first quarter. Luke Beveridge’s side are one game outside of the top six, so this is simply a game the Bulldogs cannot afford to drop.
Competitive Once Again
The Eagles were jumped early, conceding six goals to one in the opening quarter against Adelaide, but were quite solid across the final three quarters. West Coast kicked 10.5.65 to 9.7.61 after quarter time, once again showing how much more competitive they are this year comparative to previous seasons. West Coast will need to find a way to at least break even around the contest, or things could get ugly against a Bulldogs side that has dominated bottom 10 teams at Marvel across the last 24 months. West Coast rank 17th for disposals, 16th for points scored, 15 for inside 50’s and 14th for clearances. If this trend continues, it’s going to be a tough afternoon for the Eagles.
Recent Head to Head History
The Bulldogs have dominated this matchup in recent years, winning six of their last seven games against West Coast. The Dogs last four wins against the Eagles have come by margins of 94, 76, 101 and 55 points.
Bulldogs or Eagles? Here’s our Western Bulldogs vs West Coast Tip
Taking the Western Bulldogs to cover the sizable spread is the premier play for this Sunday afternoon clash. The Bulldogs are fighting for their season and are heavily incentivised to run up the score given their poor percentage, which could easily decide their finals fate next month. West Coast has proven repeatedly that they lack the defensive depth to contain explosive scoring bursts, especially when travelling interstate. Combine that with the psychological scarring of last year's 94-point humiliation at this very venue, and this fixture has all the hallmarks of a heavily one-sided affair.

Western Bulldogs vs West Coast Prop Bet
Marcus Bontempelli would have been seething after being held 19 disposals last week and the Bulldogs skipper will be desperate to bounce back. Bontempelli has been held to under 20 disposals on two other occasions this season, and he responded with 33 and 29 disposals respectively in the next game. Bontempelli recorded 31 disposals in his last outing against the Eagles.

Marcus Bontempelli 28+ Disposals: As highlighted above, the Bont has an excellent record at bouncing back after a quiet game.
