North Melbourne vs West Coast Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2026 Round 14

Roos’ Unacceptable Performance

North Melbourne remains in Western Australia for a clash at Optus Stadium this Saturday afternoon, desperate for redemption after a humiliating 124-point obliteration at the hands of Fremantle last weekend. Sitting 14th on the ladder with a 5-7 record, the Kangaroos have faced scathing criticism for a lack of defensive effort and pressure during that record-breaking defeat at Hands Oval. Captain Nick Larkey has been struggling for form in recent weeks, and the Roos desperately need him to provide a reliable focal point in attack. Improving their transition defence and contested ball-winning capability will be absolutely essential to bouncing back and restoring pride after a week of intense media scrutiny.

Eagles Building Consistency

West Coast sits 16th on the ladder with a 4-9 record following a narrow, fighting six-point loss to Port Adelaide at this same venue last round. Under senior coach Andrew McQualter, the Eagles have shown signs of increased resilience and a focus on a collective team defence. This week features an exciting milestone, with 23-year-old mid-season draftee Marcus Herbert locked in to make his AFL debut. For West Coast to secure a victory at home, they will need to control the stoppage battle and capitalise on any lingering mental scars within the North Melbourne camp.

Tactical Battle & Recent H2H History

The tactical battle will largely revolve around which side can establish clearance dominance and apply sustained pressure. North Melbourne has shown real promise at times this season, particularly in their gritty victory over Gold Coast before the bye, but their consistency remains a glaring issue. West Coast will back their home-ground advantage and structural defensive setup to restrict the Kangaroos' forward entries. When these two sides last met in Round 2 earlier this season, the Eagles claimed a 17-point victory in a high-scoring 111-94 shootout at Optus Stadium. Both teams enter this rematch with points to prove, making early field position a critical objective.

North or Eagles? Here’s Our Best Bet!

North Melbourne has been publicly challenged by club greats regarding their physicality and care factor, and that type of external pressure typically triggers a fierce, contested response. If the Roos can lock down the midfield, generate a dominant hit-out advantage in the ruck, and find better supply for Larkey, they possess enough raw talent to edge out a rebuilding Eagles outfit. Expect a highly physical, scrappy affair from the opening bounce, with North Melbourne finding redemption and grinding out a victory in the 1-39 range.

North Melbourne vs West Coast Prop Bet

The North Melbourne captain needs to set the tone on Saturday after his clubs’ woeful performance against the Dockers last week. Larkey is going through a lean patch of form right now but has strong form against the Eagles, with a bag of 6 and a bag of 5 in his last four meetings against him. With the Eagles also down their best key defender in Ginbey, Larkey should have a favourable matchup.

North Melbourne vs West Coast Same Game Multi

Nick Larkey 3+ Goals: For the reasons mentioned above in our prop bet.

Jobe Shanahan 2+ Goals: Shanahan is the most promising of the young talls for the Eagles and has kicked at least one goal in each of his last four matches. He should get plenty of looks against the poor North defence.

Harry Sheezel 25+ Disposals: Continues to rack up big disposal numbers each week and is averaging 30.2 across the season. Had 39 last time against the Eagles.
