Gold Coast vs Brisbane Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2026 Round 13
Suns Ready to Respond?
Gold Coast heads into this clash determined to bounce back after one of the most heartbreaking losses of the season before the bye. The Suns led North Melbourne by 43 points before being overrun in dramatic fashion, eventually losing after the siren despite controlling large portions of the contest.
The positive for Damien Hardwick is that his midfield remains one of the strongest in the competition. Matt Rowell, Noah Anderson and Christian Petracca were all outstanding against the Kangaroos and continue to drive a Suns side that ranks among the AFL's best for inside 50s and territory generation.
At People First Stadium, Gold Coast remains a different proposition altogether. Prior to the North Melbourne defeat, the Suns had won three straight matches and continue to look far more comfortable on their home deck, where their contested style and midfield depth become major weapons.
Lions Searching for Answers
Brisbane's premiership defence has hit a significant speed bump over the past month. The Lions have now lost three consecutive games by 41, 78 and 25 points respectively, with defensive issues becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
Last week's loss to Fremantle was another frustrating performance. The Dockers opened up a 51-point lead before Brisbane rallied late, but the game was effectively over long before the final siren. Across their last five matches, the Lions are conceding 110.8 points per game and continue to battle a growing injury list.
The midfield remains their greatest strength. Lachie Neale, Hugh McCluggage and the Ashcroft brothers are still capable of taking over games, but Brisbane's ball movement and defensive structure haven't looked anywhere near as polished as they did during last year's premiership campaign.
Suns or Lions? Here’s our Best Bet!
At first glance, seeing Gold Coast and Brisbane together might suggest a shootout, but the total feels a little inflated here. Brisbane's recent struggles have largely stemmed from defensive breakdowns, and after three straight losses, expect Chris Fagan's side to place a far greater emphasis on slowing the game down and regaining some defensive stability.
The historical numbers support that approach as well. The average total score across the last six meetings between these sides sits at just 139.0 points, well below the current total. While both teams possess plenty of firepower, this feels more likely to develop into a contested midfield battle than an end-to-end scoring fest.

Gold Coast vs Brisbane Prop Bet
This number looks very achievable for one of the competition's premier accumulators. Neale managed just 23 disposals against Fremantle last week, but that continues a strange trend where he has alternated between hitting and missing the 30-disposal mark across his last six matches.
The Suns have historically been a matchup he thrives in. Neale is averaging 32.5 disposals across his last four QClashes and remains Brisbane's primary ball winner whenever the Lions need to wrestle back momentum through the midfield.

Touk Miller 20+ Disposals | Daniel Rioli 20+ Disposals | Josh Dunkley 20+ Disposals
Miller continues to provide a reliable floor through Gold Coast's midfield rotation and remains one of the Suns' most consistent possession winners. Rioli has become a crucial distributor across half-back for Gold Coast, regularly finding space and linking up through transition, while Dunkley continues to be one of Brisbane's safest disposal plays thanks to his heavy midfield role and ability to accumulate through both contested and uncontested possessions.
