Brisbane vs Adelaide Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2026 Round 7
Another Slow Start
Brisbane’s three game winning streak came to a surprising end last week, upset by Melbourne in a two point loss at the MCG. The Lions late comeback fell short after Cam Rayner missed a set shot in the dying minutes that would have put Brisbane in front. The Lions have had slow starts to their last two seasons where they ended up winning the premiership, however their defence is a major concern at the moment. The reigning premiers have conceded 100+ points three times in six games this season, after conceding 100+ points only four times in 27 games last year. At their best Adelaide are arguably the best attacking team in the league, so the Lions will need their defence to stand up on Sunday.
Back In The Hunt
A thrilling one point win over St Kilda has seen Adelaide get to 3-3, after starting the season 1-3. The Crows again got off to a poor start, trailing by 26 points early in the second term, but they rallied kicking nine straight goals to jump out to a 29 point lead. Without Jordan Dawson in the side, Taylor Walker stepped up to the plate kicking five goals, while Wayne Milera (29 disposals) and Josh Worrell (28 disposals) continued their excellent form. The Crows centre bounce work was crucial, scoring 26 points from that source, well above the league average of 12.5 points and they will need to be damaging from centre bounce if they are to beat the Lions.
Recent Head to Head History
It’s been a dead even split over the last five meetings with two wins, two losses and a draw for both sides. They’ve played plenty of close games, with the last four games being 5 points, 11 points, draw and 6 points.
Lions or Crows? Here’s our Brisbane vs Adelaide Tip
This should be a cracking matchup between two of the best sides in the competition, Brisbane are very short odds in this game and have shown their best more often than what the Crows have this season. The line at -21.5 is a little high given the fact that these sides have played in close games over the past four years, so the total points is where we will head in this match.
Four of Brisbane’s six games this season have recorded above 181 points, while three of Adelaide’s six games have gone above 181 points, including their last two games. The Lions have consistently put up big scores at the Gabba in recent seasons, and with their defence being vulnerable this season through injuries, both teams should be able to kick a big score on Sunday.
