EPL 2025-26: Matchday 34 Preview & Betting Tips
Burnley vs Manchester City
Turf Moor, Thursday 23rd April, 5:00am AEST
Things are beginning to come up perfect for Manchester City, who have moved within three points of Arsenal, whilst having a game in hand on the Gunners. Pep Guardiola’s side have a great opportunity to keep the charge towards the title going when they take on 19th placed Burnley. The Clarets are thirteen points away from safety with only five games remaining, and a defeat against Manchester City on Thursday morning will confirm their relegation with four games remaining.
As they always do, Manchester City are finishing the season strong, currently on a ten game unbeaten streak, winning seven of their last ten games. City have been an attacking juggernaut, being the highest scoring team in the league with 63 goals. They possess two of the top three goal scorers in the league with Erling Haaland (23 goals) and Antoine Semenyo (15). Unsurprisingly, they have two of the top four assist getters with Rayan Cherki (10) and Erling Haaland (7). It’s a daunting task for Burnley, who have been the worst defensive side in the Premier League, conceding 67 goals - 7 more than the next closest side.
Another huge factor going Manchester City’s way is their dominant record against Burnley. City are unbeaten in Premier League matches against the Clarets across the last decade, with a 14-1-0 record since 2016. Burnley’s fate, although not mathematically confirmed, is decided, and coming up against one of the best sides in the league won’t spark much optimism within their ranks. With Manchester City having so much to play for, expect a dominant performance from Pep Guardiola’s side, who will put the final nail in Burnley’s coffin.

Wolverhampton vs Tottenham
Molineux Stadium, Sunday 26th April, 12:00am AEST
Tottenham have a massive opportunity to get themselves out of the relegation zone when they face off against Wolverhampton. West Ham’s draw with Crystal Palace on Tuesday morning confirmed Wolves will be relegated, in what has been a horror season that has produced only three wins. Tottenham are still two points behind West Ham, after conceding a stoppage time equaliser in a heartbreaking 2-2 draw with Brighton. However given the Hammers play Everton, a win over Wolves would likely see Spurs jump out of the relegation zones.
Tottenham are currently on their longest winless run in the league, in their club’s history. Spurs have now gone fifteen straight games without a victory, with nine losses and six draws coming since their last victory on the 28th of December - they are yet to win a league match in 2026. Fortunately for Tottenham, they are coming up against the worst side in the Premier League, that has scored the fewest goals in the league this season (24). Wolves currently sit sixth all time for fewest goals in a Premier League campaign, and it’s difficult to see them showing much fight given they have been relegated.
Tottenham simply must win this game and an opportunity to play against a side that is worse than them, and are already relegated, has come at the perfect time for Spurs. Tottenham looked much better in their first game under Roberto De Zerbi last week and if they can carry that form over this week, they shouldn’t have any issues against Wolves. Wolverhampton haven’t been able to challenge teams in attack this season, and that will be their downfall against Spurs, who are fighting for their lives.

Arsenal vs Newcastle
Emirates Stadium, Sunday 26th April, 2:30am AEST
After Matchday 31 the title race looked all but over as Arsenal moved nine points clear at the top of the table, however two consecutive losses has seen that gap close to three points. With Manchester City having a game in hand on Arsenal, the Gunners are in an incredibly vulnerable position and could remarkably bottle the title again. Arsenal have a chance to steady the ship when they host an out of form Newcastle outfit, that is sitting in fourteenth place.
Newcastle have lost three consecutive games and have lost eight of their last eleven Premier League matches. Newcastle’s defence, which had been a major strength in previous seasons, has become a major weakness this season, conceding 49 goals which is the seventh most in the league. It’s a major concern coming up against the second most prolific attacking side in the Premier League, with the Gunners having scored 63 goals.
The Magpies away form doesn’t inspire much hope they will turn things around, with their 4-4-8 away record ranked 16th in the Premier League. Newcastle are out of form and have nothing to play for in what has been a season to get, while Arsenal will be at their most desperate, knowing that one more slip up could cost them the title. The Gunners have had Newcastle’s number in recent seasons, winning three of the last four Premier League matchups between the two clubs. Expect a ruthless bounce back from Arsenal, who will keep ahold of their place at the top of the table.
