Canterbury Park hosts an eight-race card on Wednesday with the action getting underway at 12:50pm (AEST). Three maidens start the program and the track is currently a Good 4 with mostly sunny conditions expected, although small amounts of rainfall may occur. The rail is in the true position and it should be competitive racing all day.
Trent Orwin is in the saddle today with his Canterbury best bets for this Wednesday below. And if you’re keen to back in his tips, then be sure to join Ladbrokes – one of the world's biggest bookmakers!
Canterbury Park Racing Tips: Wednesday, April 22nd 2026
Race 1: The Agency Real Estate Plate 1900m – 12:50pm (AEST)
(3) Decalogue looks ready to break his maiden status, and I am very keen on his chances to notch a well-deserved victory at start number seven for trainer Ciaron Maher. The three-year-old gelding was an excellent fourth in the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) and this is much easier back to Maiden grade. Dezignation who finished behind Decalogue in the Tulloch has since finished second in the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m). Prior to the Tulloch, Decalogue was second in a Super Maiden over 1625m at Wyong. He looks a good chance to lead or trail Crusader Voyage and should prove hard to beat.
(6) Scoop The Pool has been placed at his last three starts and he is also knocking on the door for a maiden victory. He stepped out to 1850m at Newcastle last time when finishing second to Cavalry who has won a Benchmark 64 Handicap at his next start. That is good form heading into this and clearly rates as a danger.
(2) Crusader Voyage will be on the speed with Decalogue and has been placed in six of eight career starts. He doesn’t profile as well as Decalogue but still has each-way claims in the race and is trained by master trainer Chris Waller.
(3) Decalogue WIN
$1.80 (3 Units)
Race 3: TAB Plate 1250m – 2:00pm (AEST)
(3) Graffiti Tycoon comes up with the inside gate at his second race start after finishing runner up on debut over 1300m. On debut, he whipped around the field and was four-wide turning for home, trying to sustain a run. Mr Miller was too good for him on that occasion as he finished 0.74 lengths from the winner. With a better barrier and a run under the belt, he should be ready to improve again.
(11) Loera was also runner up on debut when finishing 0.57 lengths from Compensation. Steps up from 1100m to the 1250m which looks quite good. She is extremely well bred, a daughter of Capitalist out of Overreach, both Golden Slipper winners. Expecting her to go close here.
(8) Chatterley has been placed in five of her seven career starts and she tackled some good races early in her career, including three at Group 3 level. Looks the best of the roughies in the race.
(3) Graffiti Tycoon WIN
$2.80 (2 Units)
Race 4: Ranvet Handicap 1900m – 2:35pm (AEST)
(7) War Ribbon never got warm last start when trailing the field throughout over 1500m to finish 8.13 lengths away. He never fires first-up from a spell and the distance was far too short. This may be a case of the distance is still too short, he is likely looking for 2400m but he often performs better second-up from a spell. Zac Lloyd picks up the ride and the four-year-old gelding could surprise here. He didn’t appreciate a quicker last 600m compared to what he normally contests either. He should settle closer in the run too – each-way claims in this event.
(6) Oso Spirited has come back much better this campaign notching her first win followed by a gallant second. She should be leading and dictating as she steps up 300m to tackle the 1900m trip for the first time in her career. She looks hardest to beat but couldn’t take the $2.30 which is why I prefer War Ribbon at odds.
(3) Cap Saint Martin is racing fairly as he seeks his first win on Australian soil. His first-up third was better than the most recent fourth and he gets another chance. He will be back in the field though so will have to be at his best to reel them in.
(7) War Ribbon E/W
$12/$2.60 (1U/1.5U)
