Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday March 21st 2026

March 20th 2026, 2:13pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Caulfield Racing Tips

Caulfield presents William Reid Stakes Day on Saturday as Group 1 action returns for some of the finest sprinters over 1200m. Jimmystar is the $2.30 favourite but will barrier 1 should the exciting six-year-old gelding? Jigsaw won again last week and he has now won five in a row and is a genuine hope.

The track is currently rated a Soft 5 but an upgrade is a strong possibility I reckon with the 48 hours leading up being in the 20s. The main race starts at 4:15pm (AEDT) with race 1 of 10 getting started at 12:05pm (AEDT).

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, March 21st 2026

Race 1: Ladbrokes Oddsurge Handicap 1200m - 12:05pm (AEDT)

(1) Immortal Star has had a freshen up since running a good 3rd in the VG Prelude at Flemington on February 14. She box seated and won before that one at Sale and she has won on 4 occasions over the 1200m from 12 starts. Logan Bates stays on top and he has won on her before.

(2) Sassy Boom is a huge chance if the track gets upgraded. She hasn’t won in a long time but should get a gun run in around 3rd position early.

(6) Ka Ying Cheer used to race at Hong Kong and ran on well to win at Seymour last start. First look at Caulfield though.

(1) Immortal Star WIN

$4.20 (1 unit)

Race 2: Ascend Sales Trophies Handicap 2400m - 12:35pm (AEDT)

(4) Bluestone ran on fairly at Hillside last start on a Soft5 and before that he ran on well for 2nd at this track. Returning to Caulfield is the key and I think he can get a nice run in around midfield during the race before he lets down again. Likes this distance and he has won on 3 occasions from 6 attempts for Ben Allen.

(1) Flamin’ Romans led an ran well at each-way odds last start at Pakenham and may lead again at each-way odds again here. Has won twice from 5 runs at Caulfield.

(2) Samuel Longhorne was poor in the Adelaide Cup last start (12th) but he did have barrier 18 which made things tough. Will want the track to remain Soft I think.

(4) Bluestone WIN

$2.90 (2 units)

Race 3: Cirka Valley Pearl 1200m - 1:10pm (AEDT)

(1) Rich On Bubbles comes over from Murray Bridge where at his latest effort he ran on very strongly before putting his rivals away by 4L. On that effort and despite being up in class he has to be a huge chance. THe extra 100m in distance looks a positive and Dan Stackhouse is straight back on after winning on top at Pakenham on February 12.

(3) Fawlty Affairs is an interesting runner who did a lot wrong on debut in Country NSW. He ran on very well to finish 2d in the end and an extra 100m looks to his liking.

(5) Myhro’s Ruler is a JohnMcCardle first starter who has won his last 2 jumpouts. Jamie Mott rides.

(1) Rich On Bubbles WIN

$2.80 (2 units)

Race 4: Dynamic Print Group Alexandra Stakes 1600m - 1:45pm (AEDT)

(2) Getta Good Feeling won very well first up at Flemington when I was off her but  I have jumped straight back on despite the short odds of $1.60. She got a long way back at Flemington on a day where they were struggling to make ground, but she was far too good. She will probably want the track to turn to Good but it my not matter.

(1) Strictly Business is first up after winning at Flemington in the Group 1 Oaks. Runs well for John Allen but hasn’t raced at Caulfield yet.

(3) Classic Gem is first up and is also first up for Dean Sutton after transferring from the Wendy Kelly stables. May want the track to remain Soft to beat Getta Good Feeling.

(2) Getta Good Feeling WIN

$1.60 (4 units)

Race 5: Manhari Stakes 1200m - 2:20pm (AEDT)

(5) Big Swinger is resuming and Ben Allen stays on. He has won twice when first up and Caulfield is a track which he likes. Last time he was first up he was backed in to win and he ran 3rd but this time he gets a drier track. Consistent and loves the 1200m.

(4) King Zephyr we backed a few times last Spring for good results. He is better on a Dry track and if the track gets upgraded he is a huge chance again. Jordan Childs has won on top on six occasions.

(7) Pondalowie is a frustrating horse to follow. In saying that I think he will pick up a race at odds this campaign. Probably needs more distance to achieve this but could Place at big odds.

(5) Big Swinger WIN

$4.50 (1 unit)

Race 6: Orbit Logistics Don Casboult Classic Group 3 1200m - 2:55pm (AEDT)

(2) Point Barrow is 1 from 1 when second up and she did run on okay when 5th at this track when resuming. Fitter now and back to her on sex. Has a win and a place to her name at Caulfield and barrier 3 is a good get.

(9) Expulsion ran on well for 2nd at Flemington last start and she has 2 placings from 3 starts at Caulfield. A lot fitter now but may want the track to stay a Soft5.

(3) Alpha Sofie might want a track upgrade and she returns to Caulfield after winning her 2 starts back over 1100m. Ran on well on that occasion and she does like the 1200m.

(2) Point Barrow

$2.80 (3 units)

Race 7: Packaging Needs Sunline Stakes Group 2 1600m - 3:30pm (AEDT)

(1) Treasurethe Moment returns to Caulfield where she thrives and has never missed a top 3 finish. Last start at this track she was 3rd in the Group 1 Futurity and she did try to lead all of the way on that occasion. She will be fitter from that and from barrier 1 it makes sense to try and lead again. Last time she was second up was in the Spring when she placed behind tearaway leader Pride Of Jenni.

(7) Philia was unlucky last start when 4th at Flemington and she will go back from barrier 11. If they go reasonably quick up front she will take lengths of them late. Likes this distance and is 1 from 1 third up.

(2) Damask Rose is another who will run on well at the end. She flew home at Flemington last start to just miss (2nd) and a Soft track would suit.

(1) Treasurethe Moment WIN

$1.75 (4 units)

Race 8: Ladbrokes William Reid Stakes GROUP 1 1200m - 4:15pm (AEDT)

(4) Angel Capital is a proven Caulfield winner and is worth a small bet at 10-1 I reckon. He was good in the Newmarket when 3rd and barrier 6 gives Jye McNeil some options in running compared to a couple of others in the race. If he can get a run in about midfield and a couple of lengths in front of Jimmystar then the $10.00 on offer looks more enticing than the $2.20 with Jimmystar.

(1) Jimmystar is the best horse in the race but barrier 1 worries me. He will get back to midfield or worse and it will take a good ride from Mark Zahra to notch up another win. He has won 5 times at Caulfield though and is the one to beat.

(8) Magic TIme is resuming and does go well fresh. Barrier 10 is a slight concern but she has won 2 of 3 at this track.

(4) Angel Capital Each-Way

$10/$2.60 (0.50 units)

Race 9: DCE Alister Clarke Stakes Group 2 2000m - 4:55pm (AEDT)

(1) Planet Red is ready to win now after two runner-up placings since his spell behind Observer. Both runs were full of merit and he has proven that he does handle Caulfield. He will get back in the run but has strong closing sectionals. Is short enough but should win.

(2) Single Choice stormed home to win at this track last start and he is 1 from 1 when third up. Will be running on alongside Planet Red though.

(12) Kaye Jay has drawn a bit wide in 11 but will likely go back anyway for Willy Pike. The distance should should and a Soft track is probably better at this stage.

(1) Planet Red Win

$1.80 (4 units)

Race 10: Caspers Pies and Pastries Handicap 1400m - 5:35pm (AEDT)

(15) Enamorada looks classy but the $3.70 looks a bit short and barrier 13 is a worry.

(11) Placo is up in class and comes over from SA.

(16) Cash only has to carry 51kg with the claim.
