Tigers vs Cowboys Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 2 2026
The long wait is over
The Tigers had the Bye in Round 1 which is the perfect way for them to avoid negative headlines. They’re never far away though but majority of those have been related to the management of the club. On field, they will be hoping to improve on last season and should let their talent do the talking. The strength of their squad is the best it has been in recent seasons, and it is time for their club to take the next step and push for a spot in the Finals.
The long journey continues
Having participated in the opening matches in Las Vegas, the Cowboys venture down to Sydney for this game. They are bound to be impacted by the travel but should make no excuses following their Round 1 loss to the Knights. Defeated 28-18, they were left wondering what went wrong as they were beaten on effort form their opponents. The Cowboys had slightly more possession (51%), a better completion rate (76%), averaged 9.2m per carry, and had more PCM’s, but worryingly, couldn’t convert this into points. Missing 41 tackles didn’t help their cause, nor did some puzzling options at the end of their attacking sets.
Stats that matter
- The Tigers have won just 2 of the past 10 games against the Cowboys.
- High scoring games are normal when these two teams meet. In the past 5 matches, the average points total is 68.8 points, with 3 games totalling 70 or more points. The average margin of victory (skewed by a 74-point victory to the Cowboys) in the past 5 matches is 23.2 points.
- Despite winning their past two at this venue, the Cowboys have just a 27% record here. The Tigers are superior, winning 55% of matches played at Leichhardt.
Confidence is low in both teams
Neither the Tigers nor Cowboys ignite the feeling of confidence heading into this game. Without playing in Round 1, the opinion of the Tigers is far more positive. The Cowboys had moments in their opening match which they will want to build upon; there were several issues which also emerged. Consistency, or lack thereof, still plagued both sides. An off-season of hard work may have improve the Tigers but banking on this, at this stage of the season and without playing a game, is fraught with danger. Therefore, the safe option in this game is investing on the match being a high scoring contest. The Cowboys leaked points in Round 1 and while the Tigers appear to be a weaker attacking side, they will still be given their fair share of opportunities. This should ensure that the total surpasses what is offered, with fans benefitting from an overall exciting contest.

Tiger vs Cowboys Same Game Multi
Leg 1 = Either Team by 12 points or less – this is a leg based on the lack of confidence in both sides. It does go against the trend of matches between these two teams so, decrease your investment significantly.
Leg 2 = Makasini to score – there is a lot to like about this rookie winger for the Tigers. He made a name for himself in the trials and will be out to do the same at the beginning of 2026.
Leg 3 = Burns to score – he loves playing against the Tigers and has scored a try in 4 of his past 5 matches. Provided with the right opportunity, he will again be challenging for opponents to stop close to the line and in the air.
