Big Bash League (BBL15) Stars vs Strikers Betting Tips
MCG, Tuesday 13th January, 7.15pm AEDT
Melbourne Stars
The Stars sit third on the ladder with a 5–3 record and come into this clash off a strong bounce-back win over the Renegades. Bowling first, Marcus Stoinis continued his outstanding all-round season with figures of 3 for 33, helping restrict Melbourne’s rivals to 7 for 166 and wrest back momentum after a tough patch.
The chase was clinical. Sam Harper further cemented his status as one of the form openers in the competition, smashing a superb 84 off 51 balls as the Stars cruised home with 25 balls to spare and eight wickets in hand. Selection looks settled, with Joe Clarke the only potential inclusion if he proves fit, though it will be hard to disrupt a top order that is functioning smoothly. Glenn Maxwell’s role at number four is also one to watch after a slight reshuffle last game.
Adelaide Strikers
The Strikers are sitting sixth at 3–5 and arrive having lost their past two matches against the Hurricanes and Scorchers, the two standout sides of the competition. Their most recent outing against Perth was particularly bruising. Bowling first, Adelaide struggled badly as the Scorchers piled on a massive 4 for 232, exposing some cracks in the attack.
With the bat, there were at least encouraging signs. Alex Carey continued to be a positive influence since returning, blasting 71 off 39 balls, while skipper Matt Short added 52 off 31 as the Strikers reached 8 for 200. It was a solid effort, but ultimately not enough to apply real pressure. Selection remains fluid, with Tabraiz Shamsi and Hasan Ali continuing to rotate and Henry Thornton pushing for a recall, highlighting the lack of continuity Adelaide have had to contend with.
Match Prediction
Back at home, the Stars look well placed to assert themselves. They have enjoyed strong continuity throughout the tournament, their roles are clearly defined, and their core players are delivering consistently. The balance between power, experience and bowling depth is starting to look finals-ready.
Adelaide, by contrast, have been forced into constant tinkering and while Carey’s return has been a net positive, the Strikers still appear light on genuine match-winners compared to the Stars. In front of their home crowd, the lean is Melbourne Stars to be too strong, continuing their push toward the top of the table.

BBL Stars vs Strikers Prop Bet
Marcus Stoinis shapes as the standout player prop once again. He has been arguably the player of the tournament so far, piling on 186 runs at an average of 62.0 while also claiming 12 wickets at just 16.3, sitting only three wickets off the league lead. Stoinis also enjoys this matchup, averaging 36.0 against the Strikers, and with his ability to influence the game in both disciplines, he looms for another big performance here.
