Australia vs India 5th T20 Preview & Betting Tips
Gabba, Saturday 8th November, 7.15pm AEDT
Australia
Squad: Mitchell Marsh (c), Tim Davis, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Owen, Josh Philippe, Matthew Short, Sean Abbott, Marcus Stoinis, Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Matthew Kuhnemann, Adam Zampa
Australia’s batters produced the series’ most spectacular individual fireworks in Hobart when Tim David hammered 74 off 38 and Marcus Stoinis added 64 off 39 to post 186 for 6, showing the lineup’s ability to put up a big total in a hurry. That power is the platform Australia will bank on in Brisbane.
But their finishing has been a problem. In Game 4 the chase collapsed horribly after a promising start, Australia tumbling from 67 for 1 to 119 all out as India’s bowlers applied relentless pressure. The hosts will be forced to address middle order tempering and death over plans if they are to post or chase a match-winning total here. Nathan Ellis has been economical and wicket taking at times this series and will need to spearhead the quicks again.
India
Squad: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, Jitesh Sharma, Rinku Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar PatelTilak Varma, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy
India have looked clinical and complete at key moments. In Hobart they chased 187 with Washington Sundar unbeaten on 49 guiding them home and Arshdeep Singh among the wicket takers, proving India can both set and chase big targets under pressure. That balance has been their hallmark.
They backed that up in Game 4 with a disciplined 167 for 8 and then a ruthless bowling display that bowled Australia out for 119. Washington Sundar, Axar Patel and Arshdeep have shown the variety and control to choke scoring in the middle overs while seamers have picked up crucial early strikes. India look confident, their plans clear and execution strong as they chase the series win.
Match Prediction
Form and momentum both tilt slightly towards India. They have the composure to close out chases and the bowling variety to exploit any soft moments from Australia’s middle order. If India repeat the measured chase from Hobart or the disciplined bowling from the Gold Coast, they will finish the tour with a series win.
That said, Australia possess genuine match winners with the bat and will be fired up in front of a big Gabba crowd. If the home side can get through the powerplay with wickets in hand and get a substantial contribution from one of their big hitters, the final could tilt back toward them. I think the Aussies bounce back here on a ground that many of them will be very familiary with.
