AFL Daily Fantasy Tips 2025: Round 24 Saturday

August 22nd 2025, 12:25pm, By: Heath Chick

AFL Fantasy Tips

A rather lacklustre Saturday of AFL matches to finish off the season as the AFL have dumped three one-sided games together featuring the bottom three teams on the ladder in order to deliver a more exciting climax to the season on Sunday.

We kick things off at Marvel Stadium where the Kangaroos will be looking to finish the season with a competitive effort against the top-of-the-table Crows. All the talk this week was the suspension of Izak Rankine, so the Crows will want to make sure they are focussing their efforts on the field. The Tigers will take on the Cats at the MCG in the twilight game with the Cats massive 10-goal favourites. Finally the Eagles will chase a second win of the season as they unite with old rivals in the Swans.

Hard to get excited about the three matches, so lucky we have AFL fantasy on Draftstars to keep things interesting!

As always, this is all about the daily fantasy and this Saturday slate draws another massive $50,000 prize pool at Draftstars in their main contest, plus more qualifiers for the $1 million AFL Star contest! In addition, there are a variety of alternate contests:

AFL $50,000+ Saturday at Draftstars

AFL $5,000+ Saturday High Roller ($150 Entry) at Draftstars

AFL $3,000+ Saturday Mini ($2 Entry) at Draftstars

AFL Daily Fantasy Lineup Tips: Round 24 Saturday

AFL Round 24 Saturday: Where to Attack?

Lots of ways to attack this slate with three massively one-sided matches and some of the leakiest fantasy teams in the competition. There will be plenty of stacking options as we attack the three bottom teams on the ladder.

The stat that stands out is North Melbourne’s inability to control the opposition key defenders. It’s been a problem all season as they have conceded massive points on the scoreboard as they are easily the worst in the league over the last ten matches in terms of fantasy. How are they going to stop the forward beasts of the Crows?

Richmond aren’t too far behind in terms of giving up points to key forwards, but the Tigers have problems all over the ground. You can attack the Tigers from any position but in particular inside mids, wings and opposition defenders have run amok recently.

West Coast have been more competitive recently but they are also terrible in conceding points to opposition general forwards, inside mids and in the ruck.

It’s hard to find too many holes with the favourites on this slate. The only spot worth mentioning is Geelong continue to struggle in the ruck position.

Game Script: Crows/Cats/Swans stacks

AFL Round 24 Saturday: Our Value Fantasy Picks

Sid Draper ($6,000) comes back into the side after some solid SANFL form where he’s averaged 21.5 disposals this season. There’s a big sub watch here, but it’s the first game of the day, and there’s a few other potential sub candidates, so you should be able to adjust accordingly. If he gets a start, then he’s in play at minimum price for some salary relief and should be able to find the footy against the Roos.

Isaac Cumming ($9,790) has been in really good form the past few weeks with scores of 95 and 89 in the last fortnight. We know that Cumming can score well from his time at GWS but it’s taken a little while for him to find his role with the Crows. Hopefully he can do the job for us again here in a very soft matchup.

AFL Round 24 Saturday: Our Mid-Priced Fantasy Picks

Zach Guthrie ($11,930) is always a fun fantasy play for big guaranteed contests as he can randomly go huge as evident by scores of 149 and 125 this season, with the 125 coming against the Tigers last time they met. Guthrie gets a large chunk of his points from uncontested marks in the backline. He’ll link up for some chip-chip stuff and rack the points up all day, so happy to take the chance on him here with an excellent matchup for this play.

Riley Thilthorpe ($12,750) also has the potential to go large and destroy the hopeless Kangaroos backline who simply have no one capable of stopping him if he gets on a roll. Can be a bit hit or miss, so we definitely want him to be hitting the scoreboard early. I’m not excited by some of the other ruck plays/pricing on this slate, so have defaulted to Thilthorpe in that position.

AFL Round 24 Saturday: Our Premium Fantasy Picks

Tom Stewart ($13,380) hasn’t had a great season as he’s battled niggles and injuries all year, however he did look back to his best last week with a 110 against the Swans. We want Stewart to be linking up with the Cats backs for some easy clearance from the back half and hopefully deliver us another ton-plus score.

Jeremy Cameron ($13,540) won’t reach his magical ton in the home and away season, but is still a chance during the finals if he has a big game today. He has looked a little sore as he surprisingly went goalless last week. The Cats wouldn’t take any chances if he’s not right to play, and he can still kick a bag on one leg against the Tigers. If anything, it probably means he stays closer to home and can become more of a target for goalscoring which isn’t a bad thing. You can also pivot to Shaun Mannagh ($13,870) at the same price point who has been exceptional lately and looks hungry for the ball.

Note, I am conscious of fading the landmines in the midfield at the premium level on this slate. I expect a number of players to be put on ice late in the game if results are as one-sided as expected. I don’t want to be paying $17,000+ for a player who is going to sit on the pine in the last quarter.
