Sharks vs Titans Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 24

A step backwards

The Sharks suffered an upset defeat last week to the Dragons, failing to score a point in the second half in their 22-14 loss. Having only themselves to blame with a horror 63% completion rate, they wasted their opportunities created by making 8.7m per carry. They also lacked creativity with only 2 line breaks. Compound that with 26 missed tackles, 4 line breaks conceded and having 517 PCM’s against them, it wasn’t an expected performance from a team looking to solidify their standing in the Top 8.

Destined for the spoon

Going up against an inferior opponent who were struggling with injuries, the Titans failed to capitalise on their chances over 80 minutes against the Rabbitohs in their 20-18 defeat. Entering as strong favourites, they were poor with the ball (78% completion rate) and could turn their momentum (9m per carry & 6 line breaks) into points. They also had just 26 missed tackles; the attitude of this team with this dominance over their opponents suggests that most have checked out for the season and need a reboot ahead of their 2026 campaign.

Stats that matter

  • The Sharks have won 10 out of the past 11 against the Titans.

  • The average margin of victory between these two sides in the past 5 matches is 18.6 points; this is skewed by 44- and 30-point victories to the Sharks. The others have been decided by less that 8 points.

  • The Sharks have an edge over the Titans on both sides of the ball this season. They score an average of 22ppg in attack and concede just 21ppg. The Titans score only 20ppg and allow 28ppg defensively.

The right favourite but a tricky night ahead

In a perfect world, the Sharks play to their potential, justify their price and easily dispose of a team which sits at the bottom of the competition ladder. History suggests this is a likely outcome too but with inconsistencies within their team this season, the Sharks are somewhat vulnerable. The fact that they were defeated last week should count for something; they need to bounce back and solidify their spot in the Top 8. If they are unable to defeat a team like the Titans, they do not deserve to be featuring deep into September. They will need to counter their opponents care-free attack throughout the match; the Sharks have a strong defensive structure and must return to this if they are to be successful here (and beyond). The Titans also have 3 key players return to their team, while the Sharks must cover the loss of regular starters, it will be a closer than expected contest and one which could keep the race for the spoon alive until fulltime.

Sharks vs Titans Same Game Multi

Leg 1 = Total points under 51.5 – the average total in their past 5 matches is 38.6 points. Most would think that this will be a high scoring contest, but history shows that this isn’t normally the case.

Leg 2 = Hynes to score – he has scored 3 tries in his past 5 games against the Titans. In a few lean weeks for the Sharks playmaker, if they are return to their best, he needs to be engaging the line with his ball running.

Leg 3 = Mulitalo to score – leading the Sharks try scoring tally, he has a strong record against the Titans with 5 tries in as many matches. The Sharks dominant winger has also been in hot form recently and will want to leave his mark on this contest.

Scooby's strength is assessing the overall team - what they offer across the field in a match and how the ethos of a club contributes to their success. Momentum also has a major impact on sports, and Scooby likes to explore this, while underpinning his judgement against a solid basis of statistical analysis. When combined with the aforementioned points, it combines for a holistic approach towards betting on rugby league.

Other sports he enjoys include Cricket, Horse Racing and NFL. There is a reason why Scooby ‘clicked’ with BYB from Day 1 - he loves his sport as much as we do.
