Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday, August 2nd 2025
Race 5: Congratulations Braith Nock – BM72 – 1200m - 1:45pm (AEST)
(2) Useapin $6.00/$2.10: 4YO Mare who resumed okay finishing midfield and only 2L behind the winner in Hi Dubai. Second up run was terrific over this distance on the soft in a BM78. Drops back in class now and J-Mac gets back into the saddle. Fitter again and will be around the mark. Value
(5) Stardeel $4.20: 4YO Gelding with the dangerous combo of Parr for Baker which immediately attracts interest. He has already attracted some early support which boosts confidence. He has been sound this prep with a dominant maiden win second up and then been solid since. Rock hard fit now and has a handy record on the wet which is what we see here. Happy to be on.
(11) Grand Prairie $5.00: 3YO Colt who has shown ability in his three career runs and hit the board last start. Handles the wet and looks ready to go on with it now. Draws well and will attract plenty of support.
(5) Stardeel
$4.20 (1.5 Units)
Race 6: National Jockeys Trust Hcp - 1500m – 4:20pm (AEST)
(1) Welwal $7.00: 7YO Gelding who savaged the line first up and only missed behind Headley Grange. Meets him 4.5kg better at the weights this time. Second up run had excuses with finding trouble down the straight. Proven wet tracker and will be rock hard fit now. Value.
(3) Headley Grange $3.40: Talented 5YO gelding who boasts an impressive record. Loves the wet conditions and his performances two and three runs back were terrific. Had to lug 62kg last start which tired him late. Ready to bounce back and drawn to effect.
*SCR* (8) It’s a Knockout $2.60: 5YO Mare who was enormous two back winning by almost 5L with some slick late sectionals. Tipped her last start and she was crunched in the market as if she couldn’t be beaten, but left it too late and couldn’t pick the front runners up. Gets out to 1500m which looks ideal and must be respected. Goes well.
(1) Welwal
$7.00 (1 Unit)
Race 9: NSW Jockeys Association BM94 – 1300m - 4:10pm (AEST)
(11) Run Harry Run $8.50/$2.50: 5YO Gelding who has been backed early going $15 into $8.50. He has been sound in his last two outings and looks ready for a peak run fourth up. Wet conditions the only query, but the market is bullish. One to watch.
(2) The Novelist $5.00: 5YO Gelding who was terrific first up and struggled in his next two against some tough company. Went back for a trail now and it was very impressive to watch which suggests he is back in good order. He is another one who has been well supported in the early market which boosts confidence. Draws pole position and will take catching in these conditions.
(9) Bunker Hut $5.00: 6YO gelding who did it tough on return racing wide without cover, but held on okay for fourth only 1.5L off the winner. Has had several weeks off since that run and should be primed for this. Draws well and can handle these conditions. 2 x winner at this track and enjoys this trip. Goes well.
(2) The Novelist
$5.00 (1 Unit)
