PGA Tour: Travelers Championship Betting Tips

Top Contenders

Collin Morikawa ($16/Top 10 $2.40)

Morikawa’s precision-based game is an ideal fit for TPC River Highlands, where approach shots and fairway placement often dictate success. He’s been trending positively over the past two months, racking up a string of top-10 finishes while showing renewed sharpness with his irons. A recent improvement in putting has elevated his scoring ceiling — and on a course that rewards second-shot mastery, Morikawa is poised to contend from day one.

Patrick Cantlay ($28/Top 20 $1.90)

Cantlay boasts an excellent track record at TPC River Highlands, including multiple top-15 finishes and a course-record 60 from earlier in his career. One of the most well-rounded players on Tour, he brings a steady tee-to-green game and a calm demeanor that plays well in the high-pressure moments this event is known for. With his Ryder Cup spot likely secured, a win here would add a signature note to an already strong season.

More Value

Sepp Straka ($31/Top 20 $2.00)

Often flying under the radar, Straka has quietly pieced together a highly consistent year. He ranks among the Tour’s most efficient drivers of the ball and has improved significantly in his short game. With a strong iron game and fearless putting stroke, he’s capable of going low in bunches — a key trait at a course like River Highlands. If the putter heats up, don’t be surprised to see Straka in the final few groups on Sunday.

Denny McCarthy ($101/Top 30 $2.00)

McCarthy is one of the best pure putters on the PGA Tour, and TPC River Highlands has historically favored players who can get hot on the greens. Though not a bomber off the tee, his short game and scrambling skills help him stay in contention on tighter setups like this one. He’s come close a handful of times at mid-tier events, and with the field slightly worn down from Oakmont, this could be a golden opportunity.

The Field

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler headlines a stacked lineup, arriving in Connecticut fresh from another steady season of top-tier finishes. He returns to a venue where he’s tasted success before, and with his all-around game firing, Scheffler looms as the player to beat once again. His ball-striking and unflappable consistency are perfectly suited to TPC River Highlands' layout.

Joining him is Rory McIlroy, looking to continue building momentum after his historic Masters win earlier in the year. While his results have fluctuated since, his explosiveness off the tee and deft wedge game are tailor-made for this layout, especially during the crucial stretch from holes 15 through 18. This event offers an excellent chance for Rory to reassert himself among the Tour’s best as the season builds toward its crescendo.

A strong supporting cast includes the likes of Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Åberg, Patrick Cantlay, and Justin Thomas — all players capable of catching fire and stringing together birdie runs. Viktor Hovland, Tommy Fleetwood, and Jordan Spieth also add flavor to the field, each bringing a distinct style and story. The Travelers often serves up drama from the entire depth of the leaderboard — and this edition looks no different.

The Course

TPC River Highlands may be one of the shorter tracks on the PGA Tour schedule, but it delivers challenge and excitement in equal measure. The par-70 course measures just under 6,850 yards, demanding players strike a balance between aggression and control. Precision off the tee and sharp approach play are crucial, with numerous birdie chances offset by penal rough and strategically placed hazards.

Ahead of this year’s tournament, subtle changes have been made to elevate both playability and aesthetics. A new retaining wall has been constructed along the pond that borders holes 16 and 17, boosting both visual appeal and course safety. These are two of the most exciting holes on the property, and the tweaks only amplify their dramatic potential in Sunday’s final stages.

Elsewhere, holes 2 and 3 have seen tree removals, tee box realignments, and reshaped landing zones, designed to reward accuracy while preserving the course’s classic shot values. As always, the closing stretch — particularly the risk-reward 15th and drivable 15th hole — will offer opportunities for fireworks. At TPC River Highlands, no lead is safe, and no finish is ever dull.
