Eagle Farm Racing Tips: Saturday, June 14th 2025
Race 2: Seven The Wayne Wilson 1600m – 12:18pm (AEST)
(2) Transatlantic: He was enormous last start when he sat outside the leader on a strong tempo before giving a good kick to win (they ran good time / 9.7L above average). He was a forgive job behind WAR MACHINE the start prior when he was never on the track (ties in with PIER0 et al). If he gets some luck from the gate, he can win again.
(4) Pier: Kiwi gelding who was very good behind WAR MACHINE (current Stradbroke favourite) last start after being a certainty beaten first-up at Trentham over 1200m. Third up getting out to the mile with a much better gate, and Ethan Brown sticks are all positives. Danger.
(3) Waterford: The obvious knock with this fella is his barrier manners which sees him begin slowly at times, so we’re gambling on him not giving away a massive start turning for home. It was a sound return first up over 1200m when he was worse than midfield from a wide gate before sticking nearer the inside and closing off strongly in the G2 Victory Stakes (good form race with GOLDEN MILE, ROTHFIRE, KING KAPA, HIDDEN WEALTH and EL MORZILLO all running well since / he zipped home 9.2L above average for the final 600m). He had two trials before the first up run and both were sharp pieces of work as he went around under a strong grip hitting the line nicely. He’s had another tick over trial since his first up effort and that was a good piece of work too (never off the bridle). I think he’ll improve sharply getting out to the mile, he’s definitely better on dry tracks, I think Eagle Farm will suit him, and he’s very well weighted under SWP conditions (he should be giving DEMON DARB about 9kgs but meets him at level weights). I’m banking on Collett being able to utilise gate 1 today and settle midfield or better. There looks to be genuine speed on paper, so I expect those who like to run on to get their chance. TRANSATLANTIC was very good last start, but I think $2.25 is rock bottom odds given his wide gate and rise at the weights. Good value hop
(3) Waterford E/W
$8.50/$2.50 (1u/2u)
Race 6: Ladbrokes JJ Atkins Group 1 1600m – 2:38pm (AEST)
(1) Cool Archie: 2YO Colt who has been superb this prep building a nice picket fence and looks to continue with it here. Unbeaten on the wet and with set weights he looks another great chance here. Hard to look past on his form this campaign.
(8) Hidden Achievement: 2YO Colt who has been solid in all three career runs and also has proved to enjoy the wet. Draws a handy barrier and gets the top booking of James McDonald into the saddle which will gain plenty of fans. Hard fit and will be around the mark. Each way.
(16) Providence: Roughie of the field who has already been backed from $19 into $11. He has been hitting the line nicely in both career runs and looks ready for the mile third up. Draws a sticky gate which is the concern and J-Mac jumps off to ride the 8. Give thought though.
Hidden Achievement E/W
$6.00/$2.10 (1u/2u)
Race 7: Magic Millions Dane Ripper Stakes 1300m - 3:17pm (AEST)
(3) Olentia: She’s getting out to a very backable price now and is worth a play. She went around in a 900m trial two weeks ago and was never fully tested, but looked to be jog trotting in behind them (handy bit of work). She has a terrific first up record (6: 4-1-0) including a fourth placing last preparation when she finished alongside JOLIESTAR after settling last in a race with no tempo in front (race shape against / IOWNA MERC and JOLIESTAR both since won / fastest 4-200m and second fastest L200m splits of the entire meeting). She ran well behind LADY SHENANDOAH over 1500m last preparation which ties in with FIRESTORM, and she gets a 4kg swing on her out of that race. I think she’ll settle better than midfield from a perfect gate, she’s 1 from 1 at Eagle Farm, she handles all conditions, and Tommy Berry sticks with her. Overs.
(4) Firestorm: The obvious danger. Must have a case if OLENTIA does given she’s beaten her previously. Also has a terrific first up profile and gets JMac to steer. Clear winning hope.
(10) Artic Glamour: Good roughie in the race. She definitely should’ve finished closer first up last prep (arguably should’ve won the race / was never fully tested) behind COMMEMORATIVE which ties in with key rivals TASHI, OLENTIA and COCO JAMBOO. She’s also had a cozy trial leading into this and has a decent fresh record. She finished 2.1L behind CEOWULF in the G1 Epsom in the spring!
(3) Olentia E/W
$7.50/$2.80 (1u/2u)
Race 8: The Star Stradbroke Hcp Group 1 1400m - 3:57pm (AEST)
(1) Private Eye: 7YO Gelding who resumes today and has a pretty handy first up record with the four wins from nine runs. He is a genuine type with almost a 30% strike rate with plenty of runs at top level amongst that record. Nash Rawiller steers and he can definitely win this fresh. Early market support boosts confidence.
(2) Rothfire: 7YO gelding who has been back to his best this campaign with two honest efforts and loomed the winner after coming off a wide run last start over 1200m behind Sunshine In Paris. He enjoys the wet and will be fitter once again and looks primed for 1400m. Needs to overcome the wide draw, but with J-Mac on for the first time we can expect a nice steer. Looks a great chance.
(7) War Machine: 4YO Gelding who has made himself known this campaign with a nice second first up and then strung together two handy wins. He is rock hard fit and looks ready to compete against some of the best. Proven wet tracker. Will have plenty of followers with the low weight.
