Match Preview

The Eels tried hard last week against the Sharks but were ultimately undone by their own poor execution. They were within striking distance at HT only down 12-6, but when their opponents lifted, they couldn’t match them until late in the contest. It was always going to be challenging with just 45% possession and a 78% completion rate. Missing 32 tackles and allowing 634 PCM’s didn’t help their cause either.

The Dolphins were completely outplayed by the Roosters in their 36-26 defeat, with the scoreline overshadowing the disparity between the two teams. The Dolphins trailed 32-8 with 15 minutes remaining, with 3 tries adding some respect to the final score. They too struggled with possession (46%) and had an inferior completion rate (77%); it is no surprise they made just 7.6m per carry. They were poor in defence also, allowing 9.4m per carry, 8 line breaks and missing 48 tackles.

The Eels enter this game as favourites which is somewhat surprising given, they’re last on the competition ladder. While the Dolphins have only one more win to their name, they are arguably playing a better style of rugby league. While the visitors will be without Marshall-King, they are boosted by the return of Kaufusi and Donoghoe; their pack is strong and has defeated better teams in this area numerous times in 2025. Perhaps the home ground advantage counts for something (62% vs 0%); there is no doubt the Eels are a better team on this ground. It is hard to overlook the performance of each team this year though. The Dolphins are better in attack 16ppg vs 24ppg) and defence (31ppg vs 23ppg). Despite improvements in recent weeks for the Eels, the Dolphins have a core structure that appears to work for them. They are value to cause an upset as more is needed from the Eels before you can invest on them with confidence each week.

Same Game Multi

Throughout the 2025 NRL season we’ll be putting together a fun same game multi for every match at BoomBet using their BetShare feature.

To follow our multi, just click on the BoomBet BetShare button below and our same game multi selections will be added straight into your bet slip on BoomBet. You can then enter how much you wish to wager, and with a single click, your bet has been placed!

Leg 1: Dolphins +1.5 – for the sole reason that they are the preferred selection in this game, you can include them with the line to add value to your SGM.

Leg 2: Over 48.5 – they’ve met just twice since the Dolphins inception and the average points total in those matches is 64. Both games have been 60+. Given their records this season, another high scoring game is expected.

Leg 3: Lemuelu to score – he has crossed for 3 tries this season already and is proving a threat on the edge. They like to go to his side more than normal and this again makes him a threat close to the line or even chasing through a kick.

SGM Odds: $9.50 at BoomBet

Scooby's strength is assessing the overall team - what they offer across the field in a match and how the ethos of a club contributes to their success. Momentum also has a major impact on sports, and Scooby likes to explore this, while underpinning his judgement against a solid basis of statistical analysis. When combined with the aforementioned points, it combines for a holistic approach towards betting on rugby league.

Other sports he enjoys include Cricket, Horse Racing and NFL. There is a reason why Scooby ‘clicked’ with BYB from Day 1 - he loves his sport as much as we do.
