NBA Betting Tips: Saturday, November 1st 2025

Boston Celtics at Philadelphia 76ers (10:00am AEDT)

The Boston Celtics (2-3) are on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers (4-0) and this promises to be a great NBA Cup matchup. The Sixers can score at will, with their explosive offense led by Tyrese Maxey who scored 39 points and had 10 assists in an overtime win over the Wizards. Quentin Grimes continues to contribute strongly, while Joel Embiid, despite looking nowhere near his best, is still averaging 16.3 points per game in just 21 minutes. Rookie VJ Edgecombe is averaging 22.3 points in his four games to date.

Boston on the other hand look a little lost without superstar Jayson Tatum. The Celtics are playing a slow-paced brand of half-court basketball. They are shooting just 33.1% from deep compared to the Sixers at 41.9% which leads the league. However, there is plenty of time to adjust as the season is young.

These teams have already met in their opening game, when the Sixers won 117-116 at the TD Garden, as Maxey went ballistic with 40 points and Edgecombe had 34. The Sixers can beat the Celtics for the second time this season and Maxey can continue his hot streak to start the season.

Prop Bet: T. Maxey Over 29.5 Points $1.85 (1 unit) Ladbrokes

76ers -1.5

$1.88 (1.5 units)

New York Knicks at Chicago Bulls (11:00am AEDT)

The New York Knicks (2-2) head to Illinois to tackle the unbeaten Chicago Bulls (4-0) and it’s certainly been a shock to see the Bulls beating the Pistons, Magic, Hawks and Kings thus far. A win or two would not have been that surprising, but winning all four suggests that Chicago may be a little better than they appear on paper.

Matas Buzelis in his second year is stepping up which was to be expected after a strong preseason. So far, it has been a team effort from the Bulls with Nikola Vucevic playing well as the cornerstone of the Bulls at center. Josh Giddey continues to be the main playmaker. Former Spur, Tre Jones, has been elite defensively through four games, averaging 3.0 steals per game. It’s likely Jones will be tasked with trying to slow down Jalen Brunson who is averaging 31.8 points per game, so that will be no easy feat.

The offense for the Knicks will run through Brunson, but they will be looking for some high-post action with Karl-Anthony Towns if he plays. When Brunson is firing, it’s hard to slow him down and I can’t see Vucevic containing Towns either, as he stretches the floor with his three-point shooting. Throw in fellow starters Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby and the Knicks should have too much firepower for the Bulls.

Prop Bet: K. Towns Over 21.5 Points $1.96 (1 Unit) Neds

Knicks -3.5

$1.86 (1.5 units)

Los Angeles Lakers at Memphis Grizzlies (12:30pm AEDT)

The Memphis Grizzlies host the Los Angeles Lakers in the first set of NBA Cup games. For the Grizzlies, it was a narrow one-point win on the road against the Phoenix Suns, winning 114-113, on the back of Ja Morant’s 28-8-7 game. Morant hit the game winner with seven seconds remaining to deny Devin Booker and the Suns, as Booker missed a three pointer to win the game.

For the Lakers, it was also a game-winning shot, this time at the buzzer as Austin Reaves, the number one offensive player for LA with Luka Doncic and LeBron James sidelined. Reaves didn’t shoot particularly well, finishing with 9-24 but his heroics at the buzzer sealed the Minnesota Timberwolves fate. Reaves dished out 16 assists in the game and Jake LaRavia had a breakout game with 27 points.

A key match up here will be new acquisition Deandre Ayton taking on former Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jock Landale, who has been receiving healthy minutes at the five spot. Jackson Jr. hasn’t been the blocking machine that we have known throughout his career to start the season, except for his six blocks against the Pelicans in the season opener. Expect him to force Ayton to take tough shots – he has also been aggressive offensively against the former number one pick, scoring 20+ in the last three match ups when Ayton was on the Blazers.

Jackson Jr. can have a big game against the Lakers, and it’s only a potential minutes cap that might see him not hit 20 points as I can’t see Ayton or Rui Hachimura containing him. Doncic is questionable and if he doesn’t play, then the Grizzlies should prove too hard to beat at home.

Prop Bet: J. Jackson Jr. Over 19.5 Points $1.80 (1 Unit) Ladbrokes

Grizzlies -2.5

$1.90 1.5 units
