NBA Betting Tips: Saturday, January 20th 2024
Denver Nuggets at Boston Celtics

Two heavyweights will go at it on Saturday with the Nuggets travelling to Boston to take on the Celtics. The defending champion Nuggets lost the first game of this road trip against the 76ers by five points and will be looking to quickly avenge in this one. However, the Nuggets have not been a great road team this campaign, only winning 11 of their 21 games to date. Making matters even more difficult, the Celtics are yet to lose at home this season, boasting an impeccable 20-0 record. The Celtics reached that record with an easy 19-point win against the Spurs last start, increasing their overall win streak to three. The Celtics are only the slight favourites at home on Saturday which is a big surprise. I expect them to make it 21-0 at the TD Garden with another strong win.

Phoenix Suns at New Orleans Pelicans

The Suns looked almost certain to have their mini two-game win streak snapped last start against the Kings when they trailed by 18 points with only a touch over five minutes remaining. However, the Suns tested a small-ball lineup with Kevin Durant at the five, and it paid dividends as the Suns stormed home to win by two points. Meanwhile, the Pelicans won their most recent outing against the lowly Hornets, taking care of them at the Smoothie King Center by 21 points. The Pelicans have been strong at home this campaign but will face a stern test on Saturday against the Suns who believe have found a winning formula. With that in mind, I’m keen to have something small on the Suns to cause a mini upset.

Brooklyn Nets at Los Angeles Lakers

The Nets are going through an extremely tough stretch at the moment having lost four in a row including two in overtime. Even tougher is the fact that two of those losses have come against one of the worst teams in the competition in the Trail Blazers. Meanwhile, the Laker have finally found some form of late with wins in their two recent outings, both of which were against quality Western Conference opponents in the Thunder and the Mavericks. The Lakers have also now won four of their last six including four of their last five at the Crypto.com Arena, which gives them the clear edge in this matchup.
