Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday, January 20th
Sandown Race 2
This looks like a good opportunity for (1) D’jumbuck after consecutive place results. Two starts back he ran second to Diamonds In the Sky – who has since gone on to win a BM64 grade race. He gets the services of Jamie Kah today which should prove a fruitful decision.
The skinny odds are partly due to the small field – but with possible promotions in place, more than happy to take the price. (4) Rebate is the one at a big price if searching for value.
Wyong Race 2
There is very little on offer for the favourite here in (1) Kaptive but he looks the clear stand-out. A last start second behind April Rain was a good performance running on well after sitting at eighth in transit. Tommy Berry is riding well and should take advantage of the slow race to drop in behind the leader (3) Deliberation. Your decision on taking the price – but could be a nice anchor for the multiples.
Ascot Race 1
Pretty keen to take on the short-priced favourite (3) In The Boat. That’s despite three winning trials and a first-up win at Bunbury at $1.30. I like the chances of the Grant/Williams runner to make it back-to-back victories here. (6) Graceful Girl ran along stylishly to get the prize – coming from eighth in running – it was full of merit. Predictably William Pike gets the ride today – and we can expect him to ride along at the rear of the field before rounding them up. Why not assume he’ll bookend the program!
Sandown Race 8
The final race on the card does look a tough one, but (1) Excelida looks to have a slight class advantage on the rest. Has already placed in higher a higher grade than this, her last start effort behind Miss Albania is looking pretty solid form. On that day she lugged 60.5kg and finished less than a length away. Placings also behind Memphis Rock and Snapdancer in earlier races also looks handy. She has a good record at this track/distance. There is plenty of speed in the race which should give Will Price the opportunity to use the claim and come over the top of them.
