Hawkesbury Racing Tips: Saturday, May 2nd 2026

Race 4: The Lawn Shed BM78 1800m - 1:05pm (AEST)

(2) Brave Call: 5YO Gelding who strung together 2 handy wins over further closing out his campaign last time in. Resumed okay after blowing the start and having to do too much, but he was very good through to the line picking a few up late. Gets to 1800m now, but may still need further. Fitter second up and if he jumps, he will be around the mark at a nice price. Blow out hope.

(3) Tazima: 5YO Gelding who is seven weeks between runs, but won stylishly last start over 1900m in this grade. Will have admirers for sure. Major player.

(11) Natoya: 4YO mare who is third up today and looks ready to peak after two encouraging runs this preparation. Her first-up effort over the mile suggested she was just short of full fitness, but she took a clear step forward second up when chasing home the in-form FIDDLERS GREEN, hitting the line with real purpose. She now rises to 1800m, which looks ideal off that latest performance, especially considering she produced the fastest last 200m split of the race and was doing her best work through the line. The wide draw is not a major concern as she naturally settles back in the field, which should allow her to slot in comfortably and find clear air when the pressure goes on. With fitness on her side, the right distance now, and appealing value in the market, she looks a strong each-way chance and I’m happy to be with her.

(11) Natoya E/W

$10/$3.30 (0.5U/2.5U)

Race 6: Elite Sand & Soil Hawkesbury Guineas 1400m - 2:15pm (AEST)

(1) Skyhook: This 3YO colt has returned in solid fashion with two strong performances over 1200m and looks ready to peak third up here. He resumed with a credible fourth in the Darby Munro Stakes before again hitting the line well in the Group 2 Arrowfield Stakes, suggesting he is building nicely with each run this preparation. He drops back to Group 3 level now and looks very well placed under the set weight conditions against this field. The step up to 1400m appears a major plus, as he has been doing his best work late and gives every indication the extra trip will suit perfectly. Barrier 12 may look awkward on paper, but with only moderate speed engaged, he should be able to roll forward and settle somewhere in the first four or five with cover, which would give him every chance. Third up, fitter, and getting to a more suitable distance, he rates strongly and looks the one they all must beat.

(6) Regal Award: 3YO gelding who had excuses first up and second up but was strong to the line once he found clear air most recently. Strips fitter again now and will be thereabouts. Danger.

(9) Karinska: 3YO Filly who is nicely rated here and draws a good gate, however, doesn’t map all that great. Finds it tough to win but looks to be edging closer to another win. Cannot leave out.

(1) Skyhook WIN

$3.50 (2 Units)

Race 8: The Third Australian General Hospital BM78 1200m - 1:55pm (AEST)

(2) Tavi Time: 6YO gelding who has brought us success previously and has a pretty tidy CV. Does his best work on the country tracks and will be primed now for this second up. Sticky gate the main concern, but don’t overlook. Blow out hope.

(3) Amor Victorious: 6YO gelding who is resuming here and has trialled well leading into this. Maps to lead and dictate to her liking and could take catching. Will be in this for a long way. Value.

(5) Vivy Air: 5YO mare who looks a terrific value play dropping back in grade for this assignment. Her first-up run in the Coolmore Classic was enormous in defeat, where she had little luck after being shuffled well back before having to weave through traffic on the inside and not seeing clear running until the final furlong. Once she balanced up, she absolutely savaged the line, producing the fastest late split of the race and going down narrowly at Group 1 level in a performance full of merit. She then stepped out in the Doncaster Mile, where she was forced to peel to the widest part of the track alongside the talented SHEZA ALIBI and was badly checked when attempting to improve on straightening. She stuck on fairly, but it was clear she never looked fully comfortable in the conditions, and the run was a touch below expectations given how well she had resumed. She has since been freshened for close to a month and looked sharp in a recent Wyong trial on April 24, suggesting she has come through that effort well. Back in grade now, fitter, drawn to get the right run, and with conditions to suit, she looks a genuine value contender.

(5) Vivy Air WIN

$4.80 (1.5 Units)
