A blockbuster nine-race meeting is ahead of us at Happy Valley on Wednesday night in Hong Kong! There are plenty of angles to play in most races and lots of value to be found throughout the card. Plenty of time to get involved prior to Race 1 commencing at 9.45pm AEST.
Blake Lalor is back with his preview and Happy Valley racing tips for Wednesday night. Blake brings us his best bets of the card below!
Happy Valley Racing Tips: Wednesday, November 16th
Race 1
(11) Raging Blaze has come out of a few races lately that have thrown up some strong form. He was good last time on the AWT but the start prior he was strong through the line after encountering interference. That race has seen 2nd and 4th win subsequent races with Raging Blaze finishing 3rd there. He’s a great price here and will just need to overcome a wide draw.
(7) Euromissile form ties in closely with Raging Blaze’s having met that horse in all of his last 4 races and beating him home on 2 (50%) of those occasions. Raging Blaze has been shorter in the market and is a bigger price tonight which is why he’s on top, but this horse should be right in the finish too.
(9) U W Brother is a tough horse to catch but has good early speed and should lead for fun here. If he gets a soft enough time leading under Silvestre De Sousa he can go very close to winning.
(5) Hearty Wish looks to have returned well this season with two nice runs finishing 5th and 2nd posting some good late sectionals in the latest of those two runs. Can run well again.
(11) Raging Blaze

Race 2
(6) Fortune Hero is a good price considering the number of winners that have come out of this horse’s last win. Island Surprise (2nd), Smart Leader (4th), Sunny and Gold (5th), and Happy Fat Cat (10th) have all won since with another four runners placing out of that race. Fortune Hero can lead again in this event and should prove very hard to run down after trialling 2nd to a promising horse in Superb Capitalist who bolted in on Saturday at Sha Tin.
(9) Shenron is the obvious danger having run 2nd and 4th since resuming against a few horses who he meets again tonight. He’s a risky favourite though having only placed once in 11 races (last start).
(1) Jazz Steed has looked a promising horse in previous seasons but never seemed to reach his full potential. He seems to just be one level below winning on most occasions nowadays but is regularly thereabouts in his races.
(3) Glorified Fire is one for exotics as he can sit handy and stuck on well two starts ago over 1200m at Sha Tin.
Fortune Hero

Race 3
(8) Our Class Act has been extremely unlucky in both runs since winning 1st up this season. He should definitely at least have been in the finish on both occasions but gets Silvestre De Sousa aboard tonight to steer him into the clear and hopefully run down the serial bridesmaid Hero Star.
(4) Hero Star is the obvious quinella horse in the race and the quinella play is definitely not a bad option. This horse will roll forward as he usually does and will look all over the winner coming into the straight. If you’re on him prepare to sweat the last 200m.
(6) Juneau Flash has shown me good ability in his two trials leading up to his debut tonight. It’s always tough for debutants to win anywhere particularly in Hong Kong against experienced opposition but this horse should definitely be considered at least a chance for the minors.
(5) Joy In Joy another one for minors. He’s drawn perfectly, will hug the rail behind the leader and can peel off in the straight to let down through the line.
(8) Our Class Act

Race 4
(9) Chater Pins has closed off very strongly over 1800m in his last 2 starts. He’s drawn better this time in gate 6 and should be able to settle closer to the speed than he has been lately. He looks the obvious horse to beat in this race and should be a shorter favourite.
(12) Perfect To Great showed improvement in his latest start running 3rd to Legion of Merit. He’ll need to overcome a tricky gate but looks a solid chance if he finds a spot and the pace is on up front.
(5) Red Elysees is drawn better this time so won’t have to work as hard as he has in his two starts so far this season from gates 13 and 12. Big chance with the right run.
(2) Darci Joy isn’t the easiest horse to catch and looks to have bumped into a few that are better here but he’s a solid pick for the minors and should be thereabouts.
