Happy Valley Racing Tips: Wednesday January 10th
Group racing at Happy Valley! Huge card tonight headlined by the G3 January Cup (Race 6 on the card). Can’t wait to dive into the action and find a few winners. Best of luck if you’re watching and getting involved.
Race 1: Paterson Hcp (C5) - 1000m (21:10 AEST)
(1) Happy Horse is drawn well here, should lead easily and prove hard to run down having been beaten on the line last start with a big gap to 3rd. Hugh Bowman aboard is a bonus.
(6) Goodmanship is 2nd elect in the market and goes in as the danger, although it’s hard to pick a 2nd best horse in this field as none stand out apart from the favourite.
(7) Happy Tango should land near the lead and get a solid run here. Needs to lift but can fill the minors.

Race 3: Kingston Hcp (C4) - 1650m (22:10 AEST)
(4) Red Hare King is deserving of favouritism here having run 2nd in his last 2 races. He’ll be hard to beat tonight with the aid of barrier 1 and probably the best run of the race leader’s back.
(2) Total Power resuming on the class drop is the clear danger. With Hugh Bowman in the saddle he should get a great chance from back in the field. His racing pattern is often against him here.
(7) Double Win improved significantly to run 2nd in his 2nd career race. Can improve again in his 3rd start and would be right in this especially for minors if he turns up.
(4) Red Hare King win

Race 6: The January Cup (Group 3) - 1800m (23:45 AEST)
(3) Sword Point can win this race quite easily with the right run. He comes out of the strongest race last start with the best performance out of this field (6th in the HK Cup by 2.5L).
(7) Helene Feeling is in good form as shown last start but makes a big step up here. He’s not drawn ideally so will need things to go his way. Some hope.
(1) Encountered is one of the more experienced customers in this group 3 race. He’s got weight but experience will take him a long way here.
