Geelong Racing Tips: Wednesday January 4th

January 3rd 2023, 12:06pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Geelong Racing Tips

Midweek racing returns to Geelong and with fine weather expected, the club may see an influx of holiday makers at the track.

It’s a pretty decent Wednesday card too with Peter Moody’s Mr I’m A Believer our first best bet of the day in race two.

Race one gets underway at 1:20pm with gallopers running on a Good 4 surface.

Brendan Bunworth brings you his preview and Geelong racing tips for Wednesday. Check out his best bets of the card below and back a winner with Neds this Wednesday!

Geelong Racing Tips: Wednesday, January 4th

Race 2

(4) Mr I’m A Believer has the services of Linda Meech on board after a winning jumpout at Pakenham recently. It's been nine months since the Make Believe / Kimola gelding has raced where on that occasion he was 2nd at Ballarat, but was only beaten a nose. He settled midfield on that occasion but made up good ground late to almost get there.

(1) Disputed River is another who is first up for the Price and Kent Jr stable and he should be ready to fire after a couple of good recent jumpouts, one behind San Huberto who won well at Flemington on the weekend.

(3) Mac Kalhoun steps up in distance after running on well for 2nd at Kyneton last start. He will be running on again and if the speed is on, he can win.

(6) Winds of March is fitter now after two recent runs but a couple of these are faster. He is another who settles back in his races.

Mr I’m A Believer Win

$2.25 (3 Units)

Race 4

(1) El Cordobes ran well on resumption at Ladbrokes Park (Lakeside) when 3rd and I think he can further improve here. He has won on Good ground before and he is a consistent type. He has been around Geelong before and has saluted here so that is a bonus for Liam Riorden who has been in the money three of four attempts on him.

(4) Euro Dandy settles back but has the ability to storm home in his races and he did that when Ladbrokes Park Lakeside on a Good surface last start. He has finished in the top 3 on 8 times from 10 starts on this surface.

(5) Girello will settle on speed and with a few of these in the same race settling back, he might get a comfortable run in transit.

(6) Indifference will find this race easier than his latest Flemington 6th and Moonee Valley 3rd. Ben Melham hops on who is in fine form.

(1) El Cordobes Win

$4.60 (1 Unit)

Race 7

(6) Savvy Sovereign just got done at Werribee on a Good 4 when beaten a nose. Before that it was another close race at Wangaratta but on that occasion it was a win. The Maher & Eustace team have Ben Allen on who has had two unplaced runs on him but will be keen to salute in this race. He goes better on Good tracks which he obviously gets here after a week of warm weather. He has had one try over the 1300m for one victory Should go well.

(1) Invincible Bay ran on well to score at Werribee last start and is a winner of 4 from 14 starts on Good ground.

(5) Sachem is resuming but might run well fresh and he might be worth following in a few weeks.

(7) Le Maessager has won 2 from 6 on dry ground and could go well in this class after a gutsy win at Hamilton last start.

(6) Savvy Sovereign Win

$3.80 (2 Units)

Race 8

(16) He’s Essential should get a run as second emergency and from a nice barrier in three should be in the finish. He hasn't placed at this distance yet nor has he had Brian Higgins on board but he did work to the line well at Moonee Valley on December 16 when 3rd. Moody is training which is obviously a big tick and he should be ready to fire in his fourth run this campaign. It was a better effort than the beaten 4L suggests last start.

(13) Pinnace won by a head at Kyenton two starts back and didn't have much luck when a beaten favourite (4th) at The Valley last time.

(9) Jamarra is first up and despite never winning first up before he has to be included because he is very consistent. He has placed over this distance before and has upside.

(7) Stabler is fit but barrier 15 is a concern. He was 8th to Sigh last start who was beaten a nose at Flemington on Monday.

(3) Grand Pope goes pretty well first up and has won 3 from 11 starts on the Good.

(16) He’s Essential Win

$12 (1 Unit)
