ESports Betting Tips: Thursday, November 12th

Esports Thursday November 12th

Big night of esports coming up this Thursday night and into Friday morning with a variety of different events on the card! Today we take a look at some of the key matchups from the IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Europe as well as the Flashpoint 2.

ESports Betting Tips: Thursday, November 12th

Heroic vs North

IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Europe

About a month ago Heroic swept North 2-0 during the DreamHack Open Fall 2020 with 22-20 on Nuke and 16-10 on Vertigo. Heroic’s success that day came down to a phenomenal display from René "TeSeS" Madsen who ended the series with 65 frags and 1.45 HLTV as well as 99.9 ADR.

On the side of North, René "cajunb" Borg was the only player with a somewhat solid showing. He ended the series with 50 frags and 1.13 HLTV rating whereas all four of his teammates failed to break the 1.00 HLTV mark.

Even though Heroic swept North, the first map of the series was quite close. Both teams had a strong performance on T-side, which eventually saw the map go into overtime, where North seemingly ran out of steam and let the game slip between their fingers. The second map (Vertigo) was much more straight-forward for Heroic, who took seven rounds on CT-Side in an otherwise very T-Sided map which helped them seal the deal with nine rounds on the favourable side.

Danish CS:GO derbies are usually quite interesting and close, but I don't feel that will be the case here, mainly because North have been on a steady decline for most of the year. While they managed to defeat the likes of Sprout, Endpoint and Illuminar, North have consistently underperformed when faced with tougher opponents.

In their games against Spirit, FaZe Clan, Fnatic and Gambit, North did not win a single map, which is why I have no hope they can change that against Heroic. Bet on Heroic to win 2-0!

G2 Esports vs Ninjas in Pyjamas

IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Europe

Ninjas in Pyjamas reverse-swept G2 Esports (2-1) the last time they met, which was a year ago in the ESL Pro League Season 10 Europe. The man of the match that day was Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez, who racked up 88 frags and ended the series with an amazing 1.54 HLTV rating.

On G2's side, no player looked amazing, which especially holds true for Audric "JaCkz" Jug who managed only 31 frags. I must give some praise to François "AmaNEk" Delaunay who was the best player on his team, yet even he managed only 57 frags and a 1.09 HLTV rating.

Since the match took place a year ago, I would not value NiP's win too much. Especially now that G2 have signed Nikola 'NiKo' Kovač, who is not only an amazing player but also did not need much time to start performing well for his new team.

Since the signing of NiKo, G2 have played four games and lost only to Astralis, whereas they managed to defeat the rejuvenated MIBR, FURIA and even claimed a convincing 2-0 revenge win against the Danes in the BLAST Premier Fall Series 2020 Group C finals.

To be fair, G2 Esports are looking very good and if they continue on this path, I can see them as one of the top-three teams in the world. The same, however, can't be said for NiP who will struggle to win a single map let alone the series. Bet on G2 Esports to defeat NiP 2-0!

OG vs Gen.G

Flashpoint 2

OG are coming into this match after a convincing display at the BLAST Premier Fall Series 2020 where they won Group A ahead of Evil Geniuses and Natus Vincere. Despite their success at BLAST, however, OG went on to lose their next two games against FaZe Clan (1-2) and Spirit (0-2) which concerns me a bit.

Their recent results only further prove that OG are a very volatile team. It seems like they're a kind of a team that can beat anyone but can also lose to anyone which is not really a trait you would like to have.

Gen.G were inactive in the competitive scene since the ESL Pro League Season 12 North America in September where they have won only three games out of seven played. That includes wins against Triumph, 100 Thieves and Cloud9, and losses against Chaos, Evil Geniuses, FURIA, and Team Liquid.

To make matters worse for Gen.G, they will likely enter this match without any motivation to perform, since they're playing with two stand-ins and are basically a dead team that desperately needs to make some big moves.

I rarely bet on OG, because they are very unpredictable but since they're facing a team that have not only been inactive for a few months but also field an incomplete roster, I changed my mind. Gen.G will be playing this match with Richard "Xizt" Landström which is another negative in my book, since he is not nearly as good as he once was and if his performances at Dignitas are to go by, Gen.G have zero to no chance of defeating OG. Take OG to win 2-0!
