SAW vs ENDPOINT - Elisa Invitational Fall 2022
The Elisa Invitational Fall 2022 playoffs kick off on Monday, October 24, with a match between SAW and Endpoint, who last played each other in September 2021, when Endpoint won 2-0. But this was over one year ago, and the rosters now look much different, so I don’t see any reason to look too deep into that result.
This time out, it’s SAW which are the favourites to win (1.72), which isn’t too shocking to see, considering their strong form. The Portuguese squad finished the group stage of the Elisa Invitational with a 3-1 record, losing just one game against Sprout (1-2). Besides that, SAW are also on a five-game winning streak, which includes wins against VELOX (2-0), Eclot (2-0), Fnatic Rising (2-1), AGO (2-0), and Case Esports (2-1).
They didn’t have to face any strong teams over that stretch, but SAW are at least winning games. Endpoint are not in terrible form either, having won four of their last six matches (4-2); however, they’ve played just two in October – a loss against OG (1-2) and a win against BLUEJAYS (2-0).
SAW have played more games this month, which is a positive, but that’s hardly a good reason to favour them over Endpoint. Talent wise, SAW and Endpoint are evenly matched, so I expect a close match that should end with all three maps played.

Bad News Eagles vs EYEBALLERS - Elisa Invitational Fall 2022
Bad News Eagles did well in the Elisa Invitational Main Stage, winning all three of their matches against Eclot (2-1), Endpoint (2-1), and Sprout (2-1). Although I wouldn’t praise them too much for needing three maps to close out the deal, BNE had other, more important games to focus on.
Besides competing in Elisa Invitational, Bad News Eagles also played in the IEM Road to Rio European RMR A, in which they finished in sixth place, with wins against Astralis (16-3), Eternal Fire (16-14), and forZe (2-1), and qualified for the IEM Rio Major. In the RMR, Bad News Eagles also suffered two losses against Ninjas in Pyjamas (7-16) and Team Spirit (0-2), but those are much stronger teams, so I wouldn’t overreact to those Ls.
EYEBALLERS finished Elisa Invitational Main Stage in sixth place, with a 3-2 record, barely making it into the playoffs. Of the five games played, EYEBALLERS lost against SAW (1-2) and Eclot (0-2) and won against Hotspurs (2-1), ECSTATIC (2-0), and BLUEJAYS (2-1).
Besides Elisa Invitational, EYEBALLERS have also been competing in lesser tournaments, the Svenska Cup and Svenska Elitserien Fall 2022: Regular Season, combining an 8-1 record over the three competitions.
So result-wise, EYEBALLERS look stronger, having won all but one series in October. However, they had to play much weaker teams than Bad News Eagles, so their win rate hardly shows an accurate picture.
Bad News Eagles are heavy favourites, and I can’t find a good reason to argue with that. Unlike EYEBALLERS, they have qualified for the Major, which alone should be a strong indication of how much better they are. Maybe they won’t take this tournament too seriously, but they need to warm up ahead of IEM Rio, so expect them to show what they’ve got.

MASONIC vs SINNERS Esports - Elisa Invitational Fall 2022
MASONIC and SINNERS Esports both reached the Elisa Invitational Playoffs via the Main Stage. MASONIC as the first seed, having won all three of their series, while SINNERS Esports needed to produce a comeback run after going 0-2 to end the Main Stage with a 3-2 record.
Due to the Main Stage, MASONIC defeated BLUEJAYS (2-1), Finest (2-1), and SINNERS Esports (2-1), which would suggest that MASONIC should win this match. But they’re priced as 2.00 underdogs to SINNERS, who enter the match as 1.72 favourites.
The odds raise some questions: How can SINNERS be considered the favourites? They already lost against MASONIC and have played just three games since the start of the month (2-1). On the other side, MASONIC finished the group stage with a perfect record and are also 5-2 since the start of the month.
MASONIC didn’t have to play against any strong teams over that stretch, but at least they’re winning games, and that’s all that matters. I wouldn’t say that MASONIC are much stronger than SINNERS Esports, but they’re not weaker. At even odds or better, you can’t really pass on MASONIC.
